Bought a used car

Found this on FB marketplace for 65USD here in Hong Kong. Mainly was interested in the body which looked dirty and plastic had a nice creamy patina. Both body and chassis looked like last owner ran in the mud. I tried to ID the chassis and looks like a variation of TA03F with what appears to be FRP material. After market non Tamiya upgrades most likely. Can anyone shed more light?

 

Planning to do a full rebuild and replace some of the non-Tamiya bits if i can find them.

Yes it's a TA03F with FRP chassis. Looks really dirty but would be nice to disassemble and clean everything. Although the shocks aren't Tamiya but it has a Tamiya Technigold/Techituned motor installed in it. That alone is already a gem.

Yep, TA03F Pro, with upgraded battery mount and anti roll bars.  Tobee Craft front bumper?

Belt should be under tension wheel, not over.

These are actually a really cool little chassis, I have one with the 99 WRX body on it and drift tires. Heaps of fun.

Well i had a fun time starting to strip the car apart. Last owner obviously didn't take care of it as it looks like he ran in the rain/dirt and left it for a while. 

All the grease in the diffs was black and sticky. The screws holding the 540 Technigold motor was starting to rust despite all the grease. Hoping I can get the motor cleaned and working.

This was done at 12am so the wife wouldn't be too upset with the mess.

Now to get some degreaser and clean up all the parts.

Deciding to add some blue coloured Year Racing shocks, or go period correct Gold shocks. Im tempted by the Gold to keep it all Tamiya.

Most likely will run it around a track once to see how it drives and then put it on the shelf.
