Restoring dirty Technigold motor

Recommended Posts

Hey guys any tips on trying to restore this motor that came off a poorly maintained car that had ran in the dirt, not cleaned and then stored away? Is it salvageable or just clean to be a display piece.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Hummm... looks ikky, but first thing I would do is take it apart, mask the label, and clean everything with motor spray/nitro cleaner/MAF cleaner and a tooth brush.  Then I would cut the comm and swap brushes/springs, and see if it runs.

Then solder on new leads and decide whether to run it or swap the armature or just toss it in the trash.

GL!

New motor labels are available from MCI , as above, soak it, strip it and check the internal condition

Gave it a scrub and opened it up. Seems ok internally but I don't know what I am looking at . Forgot to take photos though.

I ran out of bearing oil so will get some to re-lube.
