I'm starting to get a little tired of auction plugs in the For Sale section. The tile of that forum is "For Sale, Wanted, Trade". The ebay forum says "Plug auctions". Auctions can be plugged in the trade room and ebay forum.

It's really lame to see a post saying "Hilux bits sooper cheap" or "Car XYZ for sale" and then see a link for an ebay auction. [:(!]

I don't have a problem with an auction plug just do it in the right forum. The for sale forum should be for non-auction items.

I will add that this sort of thing is a very large pet peeve of mine. Afterall, if I wanted to shop eBay that is where I would be looking.

In some of the Usenet groups I used to haunt there were rules in place for that sort of thing. You were required to use the correct prefix as in:

FS = for sale

FT = for trade

FA = for auction

Simple huh? I used to always avoid FA postings and still do for the most part.

I do the same in the trade room as well. To be honest I avoid the ones that say ebay.uk on them. Due to the very weak dollar right now.

I totally agree on this with you guys! I think all of us know ebay and the trading room would be full of ebay promotion posts if we would all advertise or ebay items in the trading room!!

Well that's what I find so funny. I log into tamiyaclub and see the ebay logo next to a trade one item. Ok that's cool I don't have a problem with that. Then I go to the ebay forum to see what's for auction. I have no problem with that. Next is the forsale forum and then I find the same auction that was posted in the trade and ebay forums. Come On!!

Chris or one of the mods could we update the forsale forum so that auction links are not in it?

I've changed the wording to make it a bit clearer on what should go in the ebay forum. And we'll start making more of an effort to move the posts around - although like you said it would help if people posted in the right place to start with.

As some of you have noticed I've started indicating what posts are on the home page (ebay/sale/want/swap). This is the first step eventually if you don't want to see ebay items you will be able to 'turn them off' for you personal view of the site. Which makes it a personal decision. After all not everyone hates them, personally I don't mind them I'd sooner see them and decide if I want to bid, than feel I was missing out on something.

And by virtue of the fact we have thousands of members of the forum and only about 6 people bothered enough to object, I think it shows its not a critical problem.

But like I said its a personal preference, and soon you will be able to decide yourself on what you see and what you don't.

As for posting in the trade room and forums, we have no rules against this - as long as they go in the right forum/thread.

Cheers

I don't think its only few people, its already some of the often visitors of TC (inlcuding also me) but as you said, if the items are categorized well its no problem, hope this will happen to a larger extend in the future.

thats the point its just personal opinion at this point, even with your vote Theo its still well within single figures. The only figure we really have is those names posted here. The fact that some of those are regular visitors make little odds I'm afraid in terms of changing the whole site.

But like I said I'm working on it, so if you guys don't want to see these items you can just turn them off, so everyone will be happy.[:)]

I'll add my name to the list as well. I already have comprehensive searches setup on ebay and they are run regularly so it just frustrates me when the trade room/forums have duplicates of those items I've already seen. The new trade display is good though with the icons on the homepage, a lot neater. I would guess that most people in search of Tamiya will already check ebay before or after a visit to the TC site - but I guess if it gains extra market coverage then fair enough, just keep it clearly identifed and in one place! I just want to make something clear. I do not hate ePay listings on TC (main site or forums), however like Sean, I am tired of seeing them in the 'for sale etc' section of the forums. I just ignore ePay listings in the traderoom. Sadly though I have seen more than a few instances of a traderoom item being listed as a for sale item only to find a link to an auction.

I suppose my point is that a clear set of rules defining where and how to post auction links needs to be created|enforced.

Ebay in the trade room with the ebay logo is fine. Auction plugs in the ebay forum =fine. Auction plugs in the for/sale forum -sorry but to use an ebay term....The for/sale forum should be a safeharbor away from auction promos.

put me on the list as well... I'm fed up with the eBay listings, sorry!

besides, with the frequency of eBay listings under the traderoom updates, I'm more likely to miss any actual trades here on TC, which are often better-than-eBay-dealsâ„¢id="green"> in my book - I'm not afraid of missing out on any eBay offers though, as I monitor most my interests in my Watch List and Favourite Search - pretty much like every singel TC member (!).

When the turn off eBay spamming option appears I will defenitly use it!

I don't mind seeing the occasional eBay listing in the main trading area.

What I don't like to see is a listing for each and every one of the items someone has got up for auction.

It just take a little sense to list your items in your for trade area and have a link to your auction from there.

When I go to the trading room, I type in what I am searching for and 99% of the time I find it.

I think by limiting the number of auctions listed in the main trading area will clean it up. This will allow members who are selling, trading or wanting items to have a little more visibility.

I'm sorry to say that i totally ignore eBay listings on this site. Ebay has more then enough tools to find what i need, when i need and don't need but want.

I also share simensays's opinion on TC trading to be often better-than-eBay-dealsâ„¢. I would also much rather buy from a TC member directly then going through eBay.

Just my opinion.
