I know this has probably been asked a zillion times but how difficult is it to introduce a sub category (even a free text field) so that I can search the club picture archive for vehicles that have been customised. For example, I have just built a one off Land Rover conversion on a Bush Devil chassis. I would like to search for other Land Rover conversions in the club photo library but I can't unless I trawl thru every showroom. A sub category field in a text search would allow me to key in 'LAND ROVER' and pull up any vehicles matching that? I know I'm not the only one that modifies vehicles so that the shell etc is different from the stock Tamiya one etc. Obviously it would only work on the text keyed in when adding the model.

I don't think there is any search facility existing that searches the showroom descriptions is there?

Cheers TWINSET, that is perfect, worked a treat!

MadMax, nice Land Rover - also a Kamtec shell I believe, you obviously had more patience than me as you have cut out ALL the windows!!! [8D] My only concern there is that it would weaken the shell too much. I kept my rear windows solid. Mind you I'm just constructing a roll cage from brass tube so hopefully that take the brunt of any roll. Cheers Guys, Ian.

mud4fun,

the roll cage, how are u planning to do this?

brass = copper ???

Do you solder it to piece the parts together? or have found a need trick to make some "elbows" ?

I am working/disigning a clod-cam-car, inspired by the pajero (ehhmmm.. can't remember at the moment who's.. lemans??)

but still figuring out to make a good looking protective "wild life cage" around the cam & expencive bits.

But, looks has a large priority then the practical side of it ;)

Hi Stefan, I was planning on using brass tube and silver soldering it together using a blow torch....sounds crude but I'm sure it'll work [:D] I have bought about 3 metres of 5mm brass tube from Homebase and I'll be trying it this weekend. I'll post the results in the hints and tips forum. Cheers, Ian. (I confess I haven't done this before so I'm sure the experts out there will tell me it won't work.....)

There appears to be a few variations on those shells cos' mine my bush devil based one is actually a 90 front end with a 'series' cab/windscreen and no wheel arch eyebrows. Would have preferred a 90 screen but I guess that would infringe some copyright or something with Land Rover. The 110 shell has the wheelarch eyebrows and cut out arches which is good. I got mine via ebay and paid about £15 each shell which I thought was good value for an ABS shell.

TWINSET - nice shell - still wrong though as a series doesn't have wheelarch eyebrows...[;)]

That rail looks good too. If my roll cage works out the next thing will be a rail frame just like that as I want to create an FAV based on SRB running gear - ali panel clad with all the bits. Scratch building the machine gun will be a bit tricky though.....

How do you plan to bend tube??

I have a pipe bender for copper brake pipes which I got from halfords. Figure if it is OK for copper tube it'll handle the 4mm and 5mm brass tube OK??? Seems pretty tough, basically a big grooved disc and a long handle with a little wheel that runs around the tube making the bend. Cost about £15. Worth a try anyway.[:D]
