Avatar/Thumbnail Whatever.

I've been trying to put a jpg up as my profile photo/thumbnail.

Resized it, it's about 698kb, I keep getting told it's over 1000kb and it won't upload.

Help?

Ive been trying for years to get one and now there dont seem to be any admin on this site anymore theres nobody to help. At least the only admin I know of is @TWINSET and he seems to have dissapeared seeing the number of requests in various threads not replied too. Great shame as i feel that once the Admin team breaks down so does the forum

From what I read in the thread I linked it’s @netsmithUK that sorts the avatars. I’ve read many times that they are very busy, maybe not meant as an excuse/defence only a reason.

I've always wondered how the colours are allocated to the avatar. Is each letter of the alphabet given a specific colour? is it to do with the creation date of the account? Is it totally random? And why do I have to be Mr Pink?

I haven't been admin for over 3 years now - I wasn't spending enough time on TC so resigned.

The only option for avatar adding (as far as I'm aware) is for Netsmith to do it manually.
It's covered in the post ad456 mentioned.

It's a bit odd something I noticed but just thought "oh"......."mah" I did have quite a good thumbnail of my VW camper wheelie but then it disappeared for no reason? Don't know how long it had disappeared before I noticed or when??

Don't worry, moffman.  You will always be the moffman to me.  

For me netsmith kindly did it for me.  Very pleased with Otsuka-san's creation, Wild Willy that I painted.

It seems that each letter has a color, for example: J = Blue and K = Green, but it also seems they're not the exact same color.
Just to make sure my mind wasn't playing tricks on me:

One half of the J is taken from @Jonathon Gillham and the other half of the J is taken from @Juls1

I managed to change my avatar, it seems the size is set wrong (and way too small), when I tried to Import it from a URL it said the file had to be smaller than 0.0009765625MB, which is about 0.977kB or 976.563Byte.
The message where it says "1 file was larger than the maximum file size of 1.024kB, and was skipped" made me think the file size is set to Bytes and not kilobytes.
So I tested it with a file of 1044 bytes and a file of 1021 bytes, I get an error message with the 1044 bytes file, but not with the 1021 bytes file.

I know you're the wild willy guru on this forum (rightly so looking at you absolutely stunning collection) These are/were my wild willy's sadly don't have them anymore because of having to move my rc collection down a buggy route because of lack of space downsizing children flying the nest and not needing a bigger house for me and Mrs m to rattle around in but I honestly do miss them the willys were painted by some guy I think was a member on this forum his painting was second to none! The grey wild willy was totally built from my spare parts box (that's how much spares I had)

Very nice @moffman!  I love that camo suit.     As with your buggy collection, your Willy collection was superb!

 

Hope someday you can make a come back and regain your RC space after your kids are out of the house.

My sincere apologies. My brain was scrambled!!! I actually meant @netsmithUK not your very good self. Having said that my comments still stand in terms of the Admin of the site. For @TWINSET read @netsmithUK🤓
