ESC Detached Capacitor?

I bought Hobbywing 10BL120 ESC with its capacitor pack detached from main body and connected by long wire; any reason for this kind of setup? It's connected with quite a long wire, so I assume it's for more than just saving space. Do I need to mount it somewhere, in certain location like for example away from heat source?

It's to smooth the voltage input. Put it wherever is convenient.

Yes I see capacitors in other ESCs as well, but usually housed in main body. Was wondering why it need to be detached that way. Alright then, thank you for the answer, shouldn't be a hassle to attach somewhere (but yet another potentially loose items when the tape doesn''t hold ).

Pure speculation on my part but I believe it’s for space reason’s and so you can easily replace them if they blow.
