OK everyone,

I've already started on improving sections of the site,

-new sorting when viewing showroom,

-new classification so you can old cars you no longer have and other extra info etc

-new attributes on models, to help people searching

-super new showroom search (not released yet)id="blue">

I've also got plans to improve 'Have you seen' section so each subscriber can have a chance to pick - in a seaseme street style...Todays choices were bought to by [insert your name here]

After that I'll do the 'Private Album' section which will allow subscribers to post none RC items up to a special section of their showroom of what ever they like (Normal legally acceptable rules apply) These pictures will only be visible by you and those you give the password to. This will let you post pictures of your family etc for just relatives to see etc. These pictures will not be moderated in anyway by the Mods UNLESS we get complaints for any reason or you post the links on any part of the forum. Number of pictures will be limited to 20 initially. Don't worry about storage problems - we have acres of space.

After that (or even before) I up for suggestions of new features. So its up to you really.

One idea I had was to create personal parts databases, these would allow you to catelogue parts like I have done for www.tamiyaclub.com/netsmithparts.asp

which is great if you want to sell them, but is also extremely usful to keep track of what you have (each part also stores which box i keep it in)

Its you club, what would you find useful?

a lot of great idea's ,

the thing i would really like to see,

the option to download a manual in 1x,

personaly i always download the manual from the car i have bought,

for possible "quick checks" if i need to find a part fast or "how was that bit attatched" Finding the page fast u need is not really practical on the way u can view the manuals right now on the site.

(i think)

Now downloading page1 p2 ect..

the option "download full manual" would be great (in a .zip file or something like that?)

---

and, maybe a crazy/unworkeble id.

what about a small "smartphone" mirror site?

surpose... i am on a market.. dude who is selling a car.. name something, a blackfoot

what would be easy'er to select from a list, the car you want info about

when "clicking" on it, a bit of info appairs, like members review,

"averidge ebay price" a little picture (if your in doubt about what car it is...)

have already tried it on the regular site, as it is, but the download for a fresh page is so massive, the gprs cost are high.

(big picture, lot of "layout" on the page")

also tried to store the main page "cars" + the page behind the cars (info page) and access it from memory on the phone, did only work partially and real slow due layout i think

Stefans ID maybe be crazy, but its not a bad one... A smartphone/WAP info page would be a fun idea... I'd been doing some tests with PHP/WML scripting on my server and I don't think it would be too hard to put some little mirror info-site up .

its not too hard at all infact there are a few pages done already... problem is defining exactly what is needed and then formatting it in a way which is easy to get to and fast to deliver. Its quite a bit of effort and I would need to know that quite a few people would use it before taking it on. I'm sure the 10 people that use it would love it but I'm sure the other million people that visit the site might prefer the effort else where.

Thats not to mention we don't currently keep any sort of 'average ebay price' - who is going to keep that up to date?

All that said if there is something quick and easy I can do I will.

cheers

I think the most important and for starters would be for example:

on the main page a keyword/modeln° search.

On the detailpage something like the detail page in the TC car database:

model number XXXX

model name XXXX

released XXXX

drive XXXX

suspension XXXX

chassis XXXX

body XXXX

motor XXXX

similar cars XXXX

rare YES/NO (or rated with a number 1-not at all thru 5-very wanted/rare)

And the a "Show picture" link.

I think rare/wanted are pretty subjective and 2 very different things: A Sand Scorcher is quite look after, but without a doubt quite common. But a Street Devil is quite rare, yet hardly anyone seems to be really looking for one... Also, they are not really important, but even THAT is personal. [;)]

But searching a model in the database bby just entering the wheelbase or drive could be quite nice (as Tomaszken described) woudl be quite nice. [8D]

u have a good point there!

what Thomaszken said about "rare rating" does sound like a good

idea to me.

But, on the other hand, for a real correct way of knowing u should know "units sold" for every model... I surpose tamiya did never relaised that info

Ebay price , yep.... agree, hard to do (and i surpose also a lot of work). Just a thought, not thinking about "practical" [:I]

another id came up in my sic mind..

A quick brouwse function trough the models.

why, recently i got a model offered and had not a clue with one it was "a older buggy" ..

After "clicking" on all the models i found it, but why not

a "look trough" function like the standaard picture (should be car page then) from windows xp.

how about a way of searching for certain cars in the event action photos section?

so you could search for event action photos containing cars you want to see in action.

for example i could search for monster beetle in the event action photo section and just find action shots of monster beetles or shots containing monster beetles with other cars.

to make this work there would have to be a field to fill in when posting action photos, so you can enter what car is in the photo,

or the system could search within the desription of the photo to come up with results.

just an idea! [:D]

Hi!

i'd find usefull to have something like "My favourite showrooms" in my personal pages, were i can add showrooms of TC fellows that i like the most. In that way i can have'em all reachable in one click even if they are offline or hadn't added new pics for awhile.

That's my .02, sorry if this has already been covered in another post, i'm not a big "search button" user.....[:)]

Bye

What about a "scoop" piece of webspace ??

in the forums there are lot of pictures of re-relaises, upcomming relaises ect..

What about a little overview what "we" know as far.

just a thought, Stefan

I'd like to be able to see a list of all of the comments I have left (perhaps it could be in my showroom). It would only be viewable to me. I often leave comments with a question, or that would be followed up; it would be handy to have a list of them, perhaps marked with a * or something if a comment has been added after my comment.

What I would like is an option to (text)search the showrooms.

I have seen a Mardave Marauder somewhere and if I would like to see it again I can't find it.... I also tried looking for tamtech.

Also you can add when you enter a model if it is modified, or has a modified body eg. but can this info be used in a search??

thanks,

Martin

(don't shoot me if the search option is there somewhere [8)] )

I'd like to be able to search by chassis type in the model database. As it is now, if I want to see which cars are TB-01 for example, I have to check each one.

Just summat else to add to the list [;)]

How about a tab on model intro page where you could see the trades for that model?

Only talking whole cars, not parts or nuthin

trade.jpg

The other one was a button to convert a showroom item into a trade

Just thought it could automatically open the trades screen, with only the trade preference and price fields left to complete, and maybe uses links to pics already in showroom?
