As my other posts recently might have alluded to, I have hotshots stuck in my head this time, and I want a winter build. I was as disappointed as anyone with the blockhead motors rere.

I am going back and forth about which kit to start from. I will be buying alloy shocks anyway, but feels like super hotshot cva will be more saleable? But that will need front stabiliser.

Going to get a repro body and decals.

Need some other advice though. I *think* I need boomerang arms, and a different rear tower to the super hotshot? And the extensions for the front shock mount, which I can probably figure out to get made in carbon.

What universal joints should I get? And is steering improved with the TA02 knuckles from the boomerang?

Finally, in the front of arm hs2/boomerang position would big bore shocks fit? I have seen some yeah racing with red highlights which would look great. But will they fit?

Thanks!

Can answer some questions

Super hotshot supension kit will be a lot more saleable than an original hotshot monoshock.  But as you say, if you want HSII front suspension, you're going to need the FRP front stabiliser stays, front anti roll bar, and the silver ball joints. Super Hotshot also has the correct roof with the air scoop on it, which the HS I re-re does not have.

You'll also need boomerang rear arms and uprights, and yes, the HSII has it's own rear shock tower, which used to be as hard to find as hens teeth, but should be readily available as I think the D parts tree, when the HS II is re- released.

Don't forget HSII also has a different underguard to both HS I and HS II, also on the D parts tree. This sprue also gives you the wishbone extensions you need for the front mono shock.

Can't answer the universals question I'm afraid, I've neever found any that work adequately (Even with TA-02 front uprights), but I can say that terra scorcher / Top force don't fit, and neither did some after market DF-02 universals, although they did work fine in my thundershot.

Looks like your best bet will be to get D parts, and R parts when the HS II re-re comes out.

Getting E parts in red might be interesting.

If you need runner parts that don't need to be pristine, I might be able to help out with the front anti roll bar bits, but I'd have to check what I've got. Don't want to sell my last set....

Thanks for the help. I'm not looking to slavishly build and exact HS2, just a decent Hotshot series runner with the longer front monoshock and the HS2 body.

Didn't realise the HS2 / Boomerang / Super Sabre rear uprights were different to HS1/SHS, so thanks for pointing that out. I don't really want blue rear uprights on it, and the Blockhead ReRe looks like it's got greyish rear uprights. If I get the SHS as a starting point I might stick with the rear suspension on that and just replace the shocks. I could also potentially design something an 3D print some upper arms that avoid the front mounted shock, but use the original rear upright in red. Or maybe just get the Boomerang blue one and paint it black? I think there's a way to do something good.

That's annoying about the universals. There must be something that works?

Thanks for the offer on the stabiliser. I'll see where I get to with buying a base kit first.

Also hoping to do the M05 steering rack upgrade, so any advice on that would be much appreciated.

If you don’t mind 3D printers parts then models for the rear upright and front suspension arms are on Thingiverse. Everything else can be sourced with some time… except the underguard. For that you’d need the BH rere tree.
