I seem to have acquired quite a few different transmitters, mostly trigger types, not all in this picture 0D3A8D36-C076-4404-B1E7-6438A3EADE30.jpg and I was wondering if any members had any good storage solutions??

I look forward to hearing the suggestions on this.   I too have accumulated WAY to many transmitters over the years.   This is one thing that I notice is quite different from the RC airplane side of the hobby.   I have several dozen airplanes that can be flown from basically two transmitters.

With the value side (i.e. RTR out of the box) of the RC car/trucks/boats, the "included Tx" and it's proprietary Rx make for the need for a lot of storage space.

One suggestion I'd leave (and I see Busdriver does) is to label your transmitters.   Do it as soon as you open the box so you don't forget....LOL.    Also, if you're not sure how long before you run the car/truck/boat again, take the batteries out of it.   ;)

I place my pistol grips in alternating orientation (one points towards wall, next one points towards room) on the shelf to maximize space.  It's really the cheaper Mini-Z controllers that is taking up space in my case..

Presumably if you are happy driving with sticks these same 2 transmitters could also be used with the cars. So I guess one option would be to ditch a load of the current controllers for a single more sophisticated sticks transmitter. Given the technology exists I'm surprised there are not any trigger transmitters that can be programmed to more than one car. Surely that would be the best solution?

There are quite a few trigger transmitters that do up to 10 models, in fact there are 3 in the picture. 2x Flysky and 1x Sanwa. The rest are RTR or at least supplied with a model . I have a Finespec specifically for my Sheridan, a 5 channel stick for the GOM as it has a linear rotary switch to change gear. Most of them are labelled but I need to spend some time reprogramming the 3 multi model sets and recording what is on each one!!! One of the issues is the variety of sizes and shapes. This makes storage more difficult!!

Once programmed is it possible to back all the data onto some removable media? Sounds like it would be a right pain if, after all that work the "multi"-transmitter lost all the settings for multiple vehicles.

Not that I’m aware of. My main problem was swapping stuff around too much and not reprogramming each time for the model I changed. Lazy basically!!!

Thanks for the reminder!  I need to get me a MicroSD card for my DX5Pro and back it up.

I saw someone cut plastic pipe used for drainage into sections, and then cut a section out of those to make a ‘C’ shape. They then secured them to a wall with the gap pointing down. The transmitter can be turned upside down then and the base slid into the open tube.

There are several trigger style Tx with model memory.  I have one (Flysky GT5).   The issue is the value priced ready-to-run stuff that comes with it's own proprietary electronics that usually has the Rx and ESC as one combined unit.   I have multiple 1/18th and 1/24th scale crawlers and none of them could easily (or affordably ;)) be changed over to my Flysky as much as I'd like too.   So hence I have a lot of transmitters.

My wish is that Flysky and Hobbywing would colaborate on a very tiny combined Rx/Esc that works with the GT5 2.4 protocol!

My FlkySky GT3B has 15 model memory after the Firmware Hack.

Sounds like you need to get one (or two) with model memory and "store" your other Transmitters on eBay...

That is exactly my problem. It’s the RTR/ proprietary tx/rc’s that are the problem. I could probably get away with 4 multi car tx  but it’s expensive to change out the supplied stuff. Also some of the RTR stuff is 4/5 channel so even more expensive than 3 channel Flysky’s etc

I have a FlySky FS-GT5 with a 20-receiver memory. I use it for 4/5 of my builds. Receivers only $20 a pop.

right now, on Amazon, it’s 63.99 here in the us.

Don't forget, if you don't need more than three channels or the stability feature, the three channel FS-A3 receivers also work with the GT5.   They just have a slight different binding procedure but are a great deal for about $10 a piece.   They're also not waterproof (not sure if the BS6 is either...???)  but I take them a part and coat them with conformal coating to take care of that.   (so if it were to ever rain on my shelves, the RX will make it through.....:D )

I use "cheap" transmitters and receivers, Flysky GT-2B (= Jamara CCX) or Dumbo RC X6. They can't be programmed so I made "temporary" labels to know wich transmitter controls wich cars and how the steering and throttle are set (Normal or Reversed)

Doesn't look "pro" but works fine for me :P

Just don't mix up the battery covers and it's a perfect system.   ;)
