I sold the couple of F103 carbon chassis plates I found and ordered one of these instead….mine were plain, but this has lettering and stuff! Lettering and stuff is cool 😎

Bit disappointed that the lacquer is coming off it

Isn’t that just a protective layer, like something that was on the original carbon sheet that Tamiya then didn’t remove after they cut it to shape? I’ve found this on a few older Tamiya carbon plates (eg TA03 battery plate, Evo III surikarn damper stays)…they all come with this layer that seems to be coming away, but just peel it off and all is good beneath 👍

I believe it to be part of the part rather than a protective film to be removed.

Reason being that new frp, for example TA03 parts, are 100% fixed and to remove would take effort/process.  Not easily peeled off.

The outer layer/film lifting is maybe down to poor storage - moisture/hot/cold?

Looks just as good when removed.

Still haven't peeled the lifting section of the carbon yet and forgot to add a pic of how far I'd got, waiting on the gearcase still 🙄

Pulled the thin lacquer off👍🏻 suits the lower deck.

Fitted the aluminium motor mount and f103GT rear motor pod.

Nearly finished

Not feeling the love for this one 😶 think I'll stick to touring cars . Enjoyed doing the f103GT and a f103LM TRF but this errr

Looks great!! Any pics of the brake light? Whats it wired into as struggling to see what would trigger it on an receiver plug.

Wirings never seem pretty on these as theres a lack of crevices to tuck things into on an F1 chassis, especially without the full length top deck like on the GT or F104 which at least hides the servo and rx wires

Boooooooo! Hate it when that happens…chassis-build wise, is there that much difference between the f103 / gt / lm? Or is it the overall package including body shell, livery etc that has left you a bit cold?

Like, the 6 wheeler Tyrell does nothing for me, but a 1980s Williams or Camel Lotus 99 hold special places in my heart, and the Porsche GT1 and Audi R8R are just cool 😎
