Heard thick grease in the standard Tamiya geared diffs are a good improvement. Starting a DT 02 Rough Rider replica over Christmas and wanted to try a thicker grease.

Whats best?

I just use the Tamiya molybdenum grease for metal parts🤷 Works fine, but then again I'm only bashing, no racing etc.

I use AW grease in mine. A layer on each of the spider shafts and both sides of the thrust washer things as well as the gears themselves slows the diff action nicely.

Thanks guys. No racing for this one but just wanted to try something thicker to compare to my other builds. Cheers!

I put 500k diff oil in my DT-03 one the other day. That makes for a very stiff diff. I understand it's thick enough that the non sealed diff shouldn't leak (and I applied some gasket compound to the joint), although I haven't opened it back up to check yet. I could probably have put less in (I filled it) for a lesser effect.

      Hi Jon,
In the linked image, I've simply moved the bar forward until it is centered directly over the rear shock tower (approx. 10.72mm) and kept the same height.  Is this what you had in mind?
