Did anyone notice the post from @Mokei Kagaku? New BB01 parts announced!

Tamiya will soon release further hop-up parts for the BB-01 chassis:

22086 4x18mm Titanium Turnbuckle Shafts*

22087 33T Steel Idler Gear (for BB-01)

22088 BB-01 Aluminum Damper Stays (Front)

22089 BB-01 Aluminum Damper Mount Bar (Rear)

*Unknown which chassis this hop-up set is intended for.

Well, so much for not ordering metal damper mounts. I shall be going full-option on my BBX!

Turnbuckles are probably for the rear of the BB01.

I received the aftermarket sway bar kit last night, installation was fairly simple.  I look forward to testing it while driving around the same areas I have been frequenting for the past few weeks and will share results.

I'm also looking into the aftermarket sway bar set.   I saw some photos where it looks like you have to cut relief slot into the rear trailing arms for the sway bars.   Can some one who's added the sway bar set confirm this?

The ebay one that I have does not need any trimming whatsoever.

Thank you!

I also thought that I needed to make a notch but turned out otherwise. Have a look at this pic posted earlier

I did not notice Mokei's post but thank you for bring this to our attention.

There is a fair bit of flex where the top of the rear shocks are cantilevered from the sides of the upper roll cage.  The result of super soft plastics Tamiya have used to make the cage assembly.

Anyway, my plan was to cut a length of aluminum bar to fit between the mounting bosses with each end threaded to accept the shock mounting screws or lengths of M3 threaded rod .  Once everything is snugged, I believe this will solve the problem but perhaps Tamiya has a better solution (22089)?  We shall see.

Thank you.   Doesn't even look close.  I guess since the in/out can be somewhat adjusted further "in" perhaps it could come up but for my needs, it'll be just fine.

Update on the sway bar kit:  I ran with it last night.  It seems to  reduce rollovers slightly better on high grip surfaces.  However,  I noticed that the ball  links pushing down on the trailing arms actually causes my wheels to have a bit of positive camber at resting position. I'm going to double check the sway bar to make sure it is not binding anywhere.

In addition, I might shorten the upper connecting rod on each rear arm to add more negative camber and re-test.

This car hasn’t been out all that long but has any tried a gear diff? Both my kit and gear diff arrived today so I am debating how to build the car - stock, or with gear diff.

fwiw, I have never loved ball diffs.

How’s everyone found the stickers on the rear panels?

I have done all the stickers except the back panels because it’s stressing me out. Seems like a few different curves and angles to get the number background to form around.

i have an honest question. i am starting to build the bbx now, but im at the point of the electronics. im trying to decide if i should use some left over stuff or if i should use my "good stuff"

my question is, is this buggy really good or good for a tamiya? i say that with full love of tamiya.

i suspect this buggy will never be a good racer, and im not looking for that, but is it a really good basher?

@dmiles: It is a fun buggy, but not a performance machine. It tends to grip roll if there is more than loose dirt. My personal choice would be leftover electronics with a bit more steam to rip and bash.

Just finished mine. Pretty much box art but like others here I really wasnt keen on the kit wheels so bought some others and sprayed them camel yellow.

Looks awesome. I like the white rear panels.
