DIY Tire Foams

I think tirefoams do make the handling of a truck with a working Suspension a lot better.

 

Do you use Tirefoams?

 

What thickness and lengh would i neet for a Lunchbox and a Clod tire?

 

I want to fit them in my King Yellow, my Lunchbox and my clods.

 

I know, people say a Clod ist better Off with more Wentholes and without Foams, but i don't want to beleive that

I think, If you have a working Suspension, tirefoams are the Way to Go.

I use tire foam in all my 2.2 tires (except the set for the beach).

For tires that don’t come with foams, I use vintage proline foams.

For a few sets, I’ve had to make my own foams.  I used something like this, which I cut into strips.  Once I wrap the strip around the wheel, I can estimate the length needed.

A lot of times I have use furniture foam bought from eBay you can get different density and size at a cheaper cost than actual tire foams. You can usually cut more than on full set from each square of foam. 😀

For a stock truck with friction shocks no foams or cut foams are the way to go.  For a truck with proper suspension closed cell is the way to go (still want an air gap between foam and tire).  If you don't want to cut them yourself you can buy closed cell for most size tires from Crawler Innovations.
