GF-01 o-rings in gearbox joints?

Recommended Posts

Question about our GF-01. Since recently we are using TL-01B arms (10005688), hard gearbox joints (53218), GPM DF-01universal swing shafts (SDF1268C) and 6mm pin type wheel adapters (53056) on our GF-01. For the original parts the manual shows to place 3mm o-rings between the gearbox joints and the drive shafts.

Should we also place these o-rings between the hard gearbox joints and the universal swing shafts? I think there would be space enough to fit them.

Thanks in advance for your replies!

Personally I would still fit the 3mm o-rings.

They stop as much metal to metal contact, give some shock protection and make the driveshaft less likely to pop out of the gearbox joint.

Yes, if there is gap without binding at full suspension compression, then you can run o-rings but not entirely necessary.

Thank you both! Placed some 3mm o-rings. All looks well, no binding.

Also installed the big front bumper. Curious about the now 6yo's verdict. But I think it will do a better job protecting the wheels and arms of our widened GF-01.

What you need to widen your GF-01 like we did.
- Tamiya 10005688 C-parts for TL-01B / WR-01 / WT-01 x2
- Tamiya 19805551 driveshafts for Manta Ray / DT-02 / DF-03 / TT-02B MS x2
- Tamiya 5310001 3x71mm Threaded Shaft x2
- Tamiya 50596 adjuster 5mm 6pcs. x1

Or you can use GPM CVD's for the Manta Ray but then you can't use the 12mm wheel adapters:
- GPM SDF1268C DF01 Steel Front/Rear Universal Swing Shaft x2
- Tamiya 53056 pin type wheel adapter x1

In the picture we used the GPM CVD's and the screws etc. that came from the original parts.
