Hi all

any recomendations on a solid value for money RC car transmitter/reciever?

there are a lot of brands and a lot of bells and whistles I am not sure I need and a lot of websites selling.

my budget is up to 70USD (its a wide range i know).

what would you go for?

thanks for the help

BTW, I am a beginner driver and will probbaly not have more the 5 cars ever (unless i win the lottery, stop working and buy all RC model in the world)

I would bump it up to $75 and get the Flysky GT5.

If you are handy with a soldering iron and like tinkering with things, I can recommend the GT3B, with various firmware and hardware mods.  It will cost more, but you can spread the cost out over time.

I would second the GT5 suggestion if you want a wheel and trigger style. For sticks I like the FS-i6X since you can get a package with the 10ch Rx and the firmware already upgraded to use all 10 channels.

I'm personally a big fan of more budget transmitter/receivers. You can get 2 Dumbo RC 6 channel transmitters together with 3 extra (so you have 5 in total) 6 channel receivers with build in Gyro function for your budget. You can control the 5 cars you'll ever own and even drive two of them together with a friend if you want to.

The Flysly GT3C is a good option too. It costs more than the GT3B for what appear to be the same features, but it comes with a built in battery which charges with a USB cable rather than requiring 8 AA batteries (heavy and expensive)

The GT5 is probably better since its newer.

Any Flysky gear is good value for money though, I have the GT3C and FS-i6 and while they aren't as nice as my Sanwa gear it does exactly as advertised

thanks guys;

out of curiousity - when digging into the GT5 i bomped into the newer G7P.

on the surface, its a similar price point but the 7P seem to be more capable (at least thats what I gathered) - it has a plastic wheel which is strange but other than that looks legit.

any thoughts on deciding between the 2?

\thanks

That one use the more expensive ANT RX which is less of a budget choice.

thanks but TBH, its in the exact price range of the GT5 at the moment...

I used to say that and now I got over a dozen cars, so the pricing for RX (and maybe gyro) is part of my pricing consideration, which is why I went for the GT5 instead. A general use 3CH RX can be had for ~£12 for 2.

thanks, ill b honest. I am on the fence here. I am not sure if I want to get a cheap but valid one for 35$ or stetch the budget to 70$...
every penny counts but there's so much info i am lost...

I use a cheap GT2B Flysky TX, it works well enough and each additional RX is about $8. Even with a 2 channel remote, the third channel on the RX can be used to power cooling fans.

And as an added bonus, the manual has a bit of not entirely correct English for a few laughs!

I just buy a separate Fky Sky GT2 for each new model. Then the kids and I can race.

If I look around, they are sometimes available for a few dollars each, especially used. I just buy them when I find one for cheap.

Hi all
bumping this for the folliwing reason:
when I started my jurney earlier this year I purchased a dumboRC transmitter due to its reviews and price. and it works great for me. However, I am now at the stage where my second car is on the way and I assume there will be more to come in 2024 and the X6 dumboRC has no memory, so essentually it can control 1 car and will not persist trim, epa and other settings per model.

so now I assume I am in the hunt for a budget RC with at least 10 model memory...
I have noticed that now dumboRC has the new DDF-350 in AE at around 60-80 USD but at this price it will go head to head with some radiolink, flysky etc.
I am not sure what direction to go. I do have 2 dumbo recievers if that makes a difference.

the 10channel thing I do not believe i need. I dont think I need anything above 4ch (or i dont understand why i need more) so thats not a part of my criteria

any comments are welcomed

thanks for the help!

I was actually looking at this a few weeks ago and came across something even cheaper.

I am still trying it out but am amazed by the features it has. I mean it will even refuse to shutdown if it detects the receiver is still on, to prevent runaway situation.

I know some will always bang on about the better "feel" of expensive branded stuff, but this one actually feels good. In fact it felt better than my GT5 which costs 3 times more.

RX for it is very cheap too, cheap enough for you to forget about the 2 Dumbo ones you have.

the funny thing is that the new Dumbo is listed with a plastic variant that is the same one you reference with its own branding with the same price (half of the "metal" variant.
you can see it in the below link. note that different picture on the plastic variant,,,
