Novamadcars 230 Posted January 24, 2023 Evening all I'm wondering what products are available in the uk to remove anodizing from aluminium parts? Also wondering how to go about polishing parts once anodizing is removed is it just simple sand and polish? Thanks
Collin 1956 Posted January 24, 2023 Draim cleaner, any kind of cheap ones. Once the coat is gone the marerial is dark gray. From that point I start polishing. No sandpaper needed.

Collin 1956 Posted January 24, 2023 At the end of the day its all about NaOH (sodium hydroxide), does not matter where it comes from. I am a bit lazy with polishing...

67CamaroSS 304 Posted January 26, 2023 For the guys in the U.S., I used Eazy-Off Oven Cleaner, the regular one in the YELLOW can. Anodizing came right off with a short soak. Also worked great for removing paint from hard plastic bodies.
Nicadraus 6201 Posted January 27, 2023 Sink/drain declogger liquid works wonder in removing anodizing and plating really quick. It's commonly used by bikers when they buy parts that are anodized in different color and just wants to use them in plain silver aluminum. Doesn't affect the metal too so no weakening of material.
