Wild Willy Jerry can colour

Recommended Posts

I finally got round to finishing the rear Jerry can for my Wild Willy M38 - using plasticard to make it look solid. It's primed and ready to paint, but I'm not sure what colour to use. The boxart is yellow but the manual say "use body colour". I'm thinking of using XF-3 (flat yellow) and XF-10 (flat brown) for the leather strap, but thought I'd ask first.

Interestingly, Tamiya changed the colour to green on the Wild Willy 2.

Jerry can?   I used matte yellow when I did the box art M38, I did one  or two red.. but the rest are olive drab.

I’ll go with XF-3 then. Interesting choice of colour though, I can’t imagine any military using something so bright on a drab olive vehicle …

 Yeah, I think olive drab is the way to go if military.  Mine is actually using a different olive drab vs the vehicle olive drab for contrast.

Olive drab is actually dark yellow, a very dark yellow. Just saying...
