Outlaw rampage pro Monster style

Recommended Posts

Been awhile since I posted on Tamiya club. Got this idea from a matchbox car in my kids collection.

This is great, the Outlaw chassis doesnt seem to get anywhere near the recognition it deserves for how good it is to blast about with.

Had it's first race day this weekend. Buggy did okay for its first time out. Had to change the tie rod ball cups out to a captured ball style from rc4wd and some 30mm turnbuckles. The rear sway bar link broke also. Was able to repair it with some 50mm turnbuckles and some team associated shock ends. The bug was running against much heavier Losi LMT monster trucks and held up better than I expected. Class rules were pretty loose 2s battery, solid axle and 2.6 wheels. I was able to squeak into the class because the rules clearly state solid axle not solid axles.

:D Are they changing the rules?  Or rather, do any Lunchbox's or Midnight Pumpkins run?

2s, solid axle, 2.6 wheel.

I took the solid axle rule literally. The pumpkin and lunchbox would be interesting 🤔

Some updates. More or less durable enough for monstercross style racing at my local track. I replaced the tie rod links with some captured ball style links and solved the ball pop issues. Also used some fuel tube in the shocks as limiters 10mm front 15mm rear. At stock travel the bump steer was really bad on the front and the rear sway bar would flip over center at the link connection. Using some limiters in the shocks solved both issues. Took a bad hit on a wall ride and broke the rear drive axle. Easy enough fix once the parts come in. I was getting confidence with it and started to pickup some speed. Think it's time to get rid of the servo saver to make the steering a little more precise. Driving monster trucks on a high grip task is a challenge to say the least.
