I am new to this form and am in need of a manual for my vehicle. I went into the manual section and found the one that I need, but am having trouble with the download. It seems that I can only get the small preview of the page on the screen. Can someone helop me with what I am doing wrong?

If you have only just joined its possible you 'access rights' haven't updated in which case you'll need to close your browser and then visit the site again.

any more problems just email me

I think it's annoying that you have to log-in to see anything in the manual section. I wanted to check one page of a manual and I had to log in to do so. How come this got changed? What about the people who aren't members, or can't afford membership? I understand that you have to pay a large amount of green to keep this place running, but this really kinda sucks [V]

When I've finished looking around (while logged in), I usually log off [|)] Quite often I come here as a guest for a few minutes a day to see if anything's new.

I think the 'small' manuals are to stop people selling copies.

There's a chap on ebay at the moment making a fair packet out of selling manuals and articles he downloaded from here, without any acknowledgement to TC at all.

If it wasn't for people subscribing, there would be no manuals at all anyway, so why should people be allowed to sell usable copies without at least contributing to the cost of storing them?

the reason it has changed is simply because we are plague with people coming to the site and taking stuff with the sole intention of then selling it on ebay and other places. The people that donate them give their time for free, the mods and admin that look after the place do the same. We just don't think its fair that those people that contribute nothing, use the bandwidth up that our members are paying for, all just to make a quick easy buck on ebay - are allowed to do so. By making people log in to get higher res images it means we can track who downloads what which makes spotting abuses of the system much easier.

we don't think free membership and logging in is too much to ask for free manuals to download.

Its unfortunate it has to be like that but until we can think about a better way of controlling it, I guess its going to have to continue to 'suck'

I'm with Chris on this. It galls me that somebody would rip us off like that. No reason to make it 'easy'. How hard is it to login anyhow?

Members put a lot of efford in scanning those manuals.. give them away... okay , but download em and then sell them...

"not done" , like the brit's say in the movie's [8D]

a option i would really like to see, is to be able (as member) to download the full manual in one go.

For every tamiya i own, i have downloaded the manual for quick reference. It is just faster, browsing trough the pictures stored

on my hard drive then trough the internet connection.

Save's the hassle of "select page, save as$" ect..

on the other hand.. that bit of time it takes, won't have a clue how mutch work it would be to put it on the site.

Dont get me wrong, i like (one of the mayor reasons i have subscribed) the option of downloading the manuals. But it would be nice to have the "download full function" also.

Chris, sorry if I offended you with my opinion and for ranting a bit but I just wanted to know why it had changed. Personally I'd like to contribute to the site but I don't have the means to do so (no scanner) as I have a few things that could possibly benefit this place. I had no idea that people ripped off the site in that way. I very rarely come here to download manuals except for the other night when I had to log-in to do so.

It's not, of course. Sorry I don't keep up with the big changes at this place [8)][V]

I subcribed early last year and while not logged in I couldn't read the "small" version anyway. All I could see was a little box with a red cross. Unless of course there isn't a small version of the Porsche 959 manual online [:I]

Hey Renco

You found a glitch there fella; for some reason, the first page of the first manual you look at in a session in a red X.

Swap to page two, and back to one and you're laughing

Stefan, guess we all would love a full downalod, but this would make it more easy for those sellers, as after paying the TC fee they could download all manauls in few minutes and sell them for $$$.

Cheers
