I have seen strange behavior of sellers online.

to that point that I am really annoyed with it and find it sort of racist.

a lot of people selling bargains and they only ship for example only UK or only Germany… I don't really understand the point here??

Unreliable postage system? Depending on the type of postage used it may not always have accurate tracking once its left the host country and the seller may not want to take the risk of losing both the items and the funds if they cant prove it was recieved. I think its more likely to be a convenience / risk based  judgement rather than a racial one.

You mean Ebay sellers only shipping to UK or shops?

Now I am being specific about Ebay Kleineinzeigen Germany, it is like a franchise of ebay.

But yes, also UK.

I won another day a private listing of an LRP Sphere TC esc for 22GBP, me ready to pay for full shipping and custom duties... but no... no international one.

This time I found a Mugen Seiki MTC1 from germany for 120€ with shipping inside germany, I was offering more to cover the additional cost of shipping... but no...

It is nothing personal, just so freaking frustrated...

Mainly not wanting to deal with time wasting scammers. I get it often on my local Facebook group too were we sell extremely low value items yet 'buyers' from another county (not country) are 'willing' to pay postage many times over the value of the item when they could buy the same item off Amazon for cheaper. Makes sense?

When they ask me for payment name and address, I give them the name of the local scam prevention officer and the address of the police station.

To say this is rasistic behaviour is more then disturbing in my eyes...

:(

Agreed

Can't make people send to other countries, infact a lot of sellers on eBay list their banned countries.

There is even a banned list of counties on eBay UK. Some sellers will not post to me either.

I live in Spain, and after Brexit I won't post to the UK anymore. I used to, and I  did once, after Brexit, and it was more hassle and cost than it was worth. I can fully understand anyone that doesn't want to post internationally, can't understand how that could be considered racist though?

Xenophobic might be a better word, but even that is a push.

Buyer pays cost whatsoever, in my case it really is only 14,99 eur

Definitely pro-racism behavior   It sure isn't solidarity that knows no borders either

I suspect it's a decision sellers make based on hearsay or previous (bad) experience of the customs/postal service when sending to particular countries.  They can choose who they want to sell to without being racist or xenophobic.

If it has nothing to do with the ethic background of the buyer or the country they're not prepared to sell to, then it's not racism.

If it's only specific countries affected, not all foreign countries, then it's not xenophobia either.

From a sellers point of view I’m ok with anyone choosing where and where not to send things for any reason. It can cause extra postage charges, customs charges and various other hassle that maybe anything from inconvenient, confusing or damage the reputation if it goes wrong.

This affects me as a buyer quite regularly and I tend to ask if they will accommodate my location and if they don't or can’t then it’s tough luck to me, I can accept that fine and don’t get upset. Most generally will thankfully but some won’t or regulations(no matter how silly) get in the way. It’s part and parcel of how things go.

I avoid buying from outside of EU countries since a couple of years back when our postal service became annoying to deal with when, they starting slapping a fee of 10 bucks plus VAT onto everything and delaying packages while doing it, before then i never had any issues buy internationally but now its a hassle, both as its more expensive and slower.

Dont do a lot of selling but generally i prefer to stay within the country.

As for no in/out of UK or Germany, UK i understand since its no longer in the EU, Germany i dont get if its to other EU countries, outside i get it.

I'm confused....???  Was there a spot on the online order form that asked your race/ethnicity?   I'd imagine no, so if that's the case, then how could one surmise this is racist in nature?

I WAS NOT VERY CAREFUL WITH MY WORDS HERE, AND DO NOT MEAN ANY OF THEM IN A TECHNICAL OR LEGAL SENSE; I MAY WELL HAVE NOT DESCRIBED THINGS RIGHT though I'm trying to be transparent. I PROBABLY MISDESCRIBED SOMETHING.

It's a hassle.

I've sent things worldwide, and it usually involves more paperwork.

Also, if it's not covered by ebays global shipping, the likes of the local ,MyHermes (or whatever its called now..) won't take it (or they didnt), where you can pay online ,print you're own label off, and drop it off at the local 8 till late spar ,after a 12hr dayshift.

On the flip side, I'm waiting on parts from across the pond, that was meant to be here in November , and now drawing blanks on tracking....

It Could be people have been scammed and it's a case of once bitten? I've sold a fair few items on Ebay etc and my first ever overseas seller tried to scam me with the mugen mbx6t I almost sent then I had a guy from Spain believe it or not won an item I had on Ebay and tried to get me to post it before he paid for it and the last one after he/she won asked if they could pay monthly instalments........unbelievable!!! And when I said that isn't how it works he got really abusive to the extent I reported him to Ebay!  So for me it's just far less hassle to just sell locally! People pay then come and pick it up and normally if they are like minded rc enthusiasts you get a good like minded conversations and  a few are now friends:)

I've shipped abroad and it's been an absolute faff (I'm UK based) - especially if the buyer wants to return an item.

I would still consider it for low value items that fit in a padded envelope - but I wouldn't do it for anything of a decent size or value any more.

I see this from time to time and it can be a little frustrating sometime, particularly if it's a rare part that you've been searching for, for example. That said I agree it's totally the sellers choice, no point debating it imo, although it does make for interesting discussion.

I send my items wherever, and regularly all over the world, I have no problem with it personally. I simply go totally OTT on the packaging, package carefully and thoughtfully and use fully insured and tracked services. Also, I offer no returns due to the nature of the hobby - mainly to avoid any jokers who would swap out parts and send it back claiming it was as received.

The biggest, heaviest (and fairly delicate) I've sent a long way was a complete Juggernaut 2 from the UK to the US. I think postage with Evri International was something like £80 and took around 3wks to arrive. Never had a problem yet🤞

I've have sold RC cars to several countries (inside and outside EU) from Belgium without any problems. I've had parts send to me from France to be send further by me to the UK TC member because the seller wouldn't send them to the UK directly. I also had RC wheels/tires and an undertray send by the store to a UK based TC member who send them on to me afterwards because the store wouldn't send them to Belgium directly. I've used that system before buying pocket knives from a US based seller that would only sell to a US buyer. Even those came through customs without much hassle. I feel like I've been extremely lucky so far :D

If I was to sell anything internationally it would only be to folks I know for a while.  But I have no plan yet to sell anything, so..

I can understand why some folks would not want to go through with filling out customs forms and stuff.  Some shop in HK screws up the customs declaration all the time to the point they told me to allow them to use falsified lower values (fraud) or buy less.. lol.  so frikken Chinese, man.  I stopped buying from them all together.

I sell a lot on Ebay and will only ship to a US address (turn off International shipping in my listing), don't want to deal with the hassle of International shipping.   I'm with the seller on this one.

I sold one of my Nikkos F10s. I tried to stop people in Italy buying them, but I couldn't really get around it, so I put it on the Ebay International seller thing, which is meant to make it easier.

once sold the guy wanted the money back as he couldn't plug the battery in. Honestly. My options were quite literally finding a courier in Italy to pick up the car (it was on me to return it and pay for it) or letting him have it for nothing. With a month old baby, guess what I picked. £100 down the drain, plus the sellers free, plus postage to the UK address in the first place.

Never again.

Basically Ebay badwords over sellers if the buyers want to be complain for no real reason. Organising a collection in the UK is one thing, internationally is another.

Despite my name, my issue with Nikko buyers (constantly messaging to buy outside of eBay, or refusing to pay) put me completely off the cars and collection culture.

I don't even mind the money, but the whole thing really left a bad taste in my mouth about selling on eBay, and I'm sorry, but in particular internationally.
