Do you correct a fish eye on a polycarbonate body before the paint dries or do you have to wait for it to dry?

Got my first fish eye while painting a Lexan body today.   Saw on TY a few weeks ago that you can correct this with Tamiya Polycarbonate paint remover on the end of a Q-tip.   Question, can you do that between coats or do you have to let it dry thoroughly before trying to correct with this method?
