I will second the FS-i6. I have one that I use for a Kyosho Blizzard and a future boat build. Very easy to change the throttle, plus you can flash the 10ch firmware on it and have 10 channels instead of 6.

I'm not a stick person at all since I prefer steering with a wheel but 1/8 Buggy World Champion Davide Ongaro uses a stick transmitter (Futaba IIRC) so there's got to be some merit to it...

Something else to consider with the question of sticks or wheel transmitter is what you plan to control with it in the future.

If you only ever control cars then either could be used. But if like me you fancy trying lots of different things (in the long term I'd like to try a tank, a ship, a sub anything else I come across that is different) then some of those future projects may be a lot easier with a stick controller. For example controlling an RC tank and its turret at the same time would probably be easier with a stick controller.
