Hello. I appreciate this isnt the most desirable Tamiya ever. But its the most sentimental to me. and I want one.

Doesnt have to be NIB, or even mint, just “nice”. Boxed etc, but used is ok. Just wondering what to pay without my judgement been clouded by nostalgia? Theres a few on eBay, but bizarrely Ive ended up buying a Merc and a Subaru TL-01 instead haha. I can see this getting out of hand

It must be the 58241. Not the later 2002 Focus. For example

Thanks

A nib example would be worth about $300-375usd assuming everything in the box was good. They generally sell within 1-4 weeks if being listed in this price range.

They are getting rarer but it’s the going price for most TL01. A perfectly built but never run complete and near perfect box art will go for a little less. So someone else’s shelf queen.

unpainted nib shell probably in the $150-200usd range.

I don’t know what you’re prepared to sacrifice in a used example so I can’t say what they are worth price wise.

I havent got a budget as such, the price is what it is, just wanted to make sure I didnt pay too much.

is this Focus a desirable TL01? As its those prices are more than Ive been paying?

Any WRC related bodied version will be worth more than non race related models.

To be fair, many of the Subaru’s have been Re released, which drops the value on many. The one with the highest value is the Colin macrae ta03.

sadly they have not Re released any focus shells.

Don't know how rare these bodies are but...

Rare, I had been waiting months for L and L to get one in for my TB01 as the originals are tucked up in collections, the originals come around but they are too nice to cut up and paint!

I found the accessories were fine on my L and L shell. I still have the original Tamiya but they are a bit tatty. The only thing I did use to make it better was the original Tamiya fixing for the roof spoiler, just made it that but tighter fit.

It’s certainly the upper end of value. It does look very tidy. You could make him an offer, find a second hand tl01 chassis you might still come out ahead. Of course if you only need the shell for shelf queen duties any chassis would do.

I’ve got a nib kit on the shelf I need to get around to building as a queen. Pre done shells like that are always tempting for me, the shell is my least favorite part. Trying to race Tamiyas off-road is consuming my play money at the moment.

Hmm. He offered it me considerably cheaper (£83 plus postage and fee’s). BUT Id still need wheels/tyres. Id maybe be looking at £150ish for the shell/wheels/tyres and still not have a box. Hmmm.

Im just like you. I dont like shells. Id definately own some off roaders if it werent for having to paint a driver….

Well at least wheels and tyres are easier to find, would you go with focus 03 off road rally wheels? or the road style wheels that came with 58241? Those road style wheels could be a bit trickier.

It may be better to wait for a whole kit to come up. Just depends how much of a hurry you’re in.

Must be, it's the same shell as the NIB kit I've got for sale at the minute.

I've also got the 2000 as a boxed body set and I've decided to keep that, stick it on a TA02 chassis-in-a-bag I bought from Tamico, and sell the TL01 2002

Wrong year for you though 😃

I think its best to buy it all at once. Theres no rush or budget or timescale. It just is what it is. I bought an NIB and built it, but sold it a few years ago as I couldnt afford/justify 9 kits sat on shelves. I also sold an NIB Tamico Edition 934 and a TA02 Repsol Cosworth (used). Never mind

It’s all well and good in hindsight but the money recovered served a purpose at the time. We all end up buying back a regretful sale at some point.
