Would you use these to get a wider track at the rear by changing to wider wheel hexes (8 or 10 mm instead of the standard 6mm?) and without having to change the suspension arms?

Yes, if you only want the rear a few mm wider it's perfect. I will have to test if they will be enough for my purpose as I want to fit Sand Scorcher wheels and its possible that I need a little bit more than 4 mm. Maybe I need to change the inner bearing for a more narrow one.

There's a member on here ( @miniguy77 if I recall correctly) that has 3D designed sand scorcher wheels with hexes. Then maybe the longer axles ain't necessary? Or if you can change the offset of his design? The wheels designs are on thingiverse.

When you do that you also need a full 1mm spacer outboard of the outboard bearing to make up for the thin bearing (and go wider which is the point :) ).

One other thing to consider if you end up a little on the narrow side is that you can use even wider hexes in combination with a thin/low profile wheel nut, like the ones the drone guys sometimes use to secure their propellers. That buys you 1.5mm extra width. If that is still too narrow you can even use a regular 4mm plain nut (i.e. neither serrated nut nor stop nut). You will need to use Loctite 242 every time you install the wheels but that will buy you an extra 1mm over the thin nut. I have done that on scale project as I really don't mind installing my wheels the night before I run the car...
