We've had TC T-Shirts, and I've got some TC car stickers; are there any thoughts on other merchandise with the TC logo which people would like?

I would like to suggest a Tamiya Club mousemat, coffee mug and the other idea I had was a black or grey pit towel with the TC logo on it.

If there's enough interest in it, could there be a section on the site for merchandise? I believe that there are places which can do t-shirts, mugs etc on the internet, so that there is no need to stock up on premade goods.

I found tshirtcandy whilst hunting around this afternoon when I should have been working [;)]. Chris, what's your stand on the TC logo going onto a t-shirt, towel etc? I'm keen to do some pit towels, but ask your approval before I go ahead and rip the logo [:)]

Hmm - the ideas sounds nice - Any chance on getting some of the TC stickers - would like to put one on my 1:1 and on the Hobbyshop window!!

Hi All

I appreciate the ideas and there are more products in the pipeline.

I'm very possesive though of the logo and name (as are most brand owners) so please ask me first before producing stuff. Basically I want to keep very tight control over anything produced with the club name on for a couple of reasons.

1. Anything produced with the club name on reflects on the club. Therefor if its rubbish, people will think the club is rubbish. This is basically why I haven't done anything through any of the online production services yet - I just don't like the idea of stuff going out which I haven't actually seen. This may seem like I'm a control freak (but thats because I am [;)]) but its one of those things that can soon get out of control - first few people do tasteful ones, then another one comes along which is bit more riske and then another etc etc. I don't want to get to the point where people are producing tshirts with a picture of some guy wearing a tshirt tamiyaclub logo on it while taking a leak on a kyosho model for example. Some might find it funny, lots wont and again that reflects on the club and not the producer of the tshirt

2. If lots of people start producing stuff, then its only a matter before someone starts making money off the back of the club and all its members hard work without giving anything back. People already do it with printing and selling manuals, its only a matter of time before someone does it with tshirts, mugs etc etc claiming them to be official merchandise when really its just some scammer making a fast buck.

3. I'm looking around to standardise on one supplier that I can integrate into the site, again to give a more professional appearence. I don't just want a list of links jumping off to lots of different suppliers, with differing levels of quality etc, all with their own ordering and payment systems etc etc

On the other hand if people have great ideas etc and produce great items then we'll help as musch as we can and actively push them on the site with our full approval (there are already a couple of nice ones in the pipeline[;)]) which are completely the idea and hardwork of one of our members.

I never thought I get concerned with this but as the club grows it does become an issue and its better to sort it out now rather than try and control it later.

Current favourite is www.cafepress.com/tamiyaclub which i set up about a year ago, maybe more. Its global, the prices are keen and they print on just about everything from mugs to thongs. Nothing in there at the moment apart from the 2 test items i did. Just never had the time to populate it fully yet. Maybe I'll stick a few more up just to keep you lot satified for a while [;)] until I get the complete solution done.

Hope you all understand. Please be patient, trust me there will be lots to spend your money on soon enough.[:D]

All that said, there is absolutely nothing to stop you producing items which are rc collecting themed as long as they don't feature the club name. Knock yourself out - you might even sell a few through the traderooms [:D]

Thanks for the response Chris, some very good points you raise which I respect - that was my main reason for asking your stand on this, and I can see your point about the quality of goods reflecting the quality of the site.

I can't quite imagine myself sporting the official TC thong though [:P]

hehe.. Any news on the Tamiyaclub*com stickers, both in 1:10 and 1:1 - Would LOVE the ability to stick a TC sticker on the flat black Juggernaut once it's finished (and on the Custom Clod I'm building for a mate...)
