I really enjoy running my CR-V, but think that it would be a far better, and more stable car, if the front track was a little wider.

I am currently running with the low rider wheels and off road tyres as the wheels have a big ofset.

But I was wondering if anyone has tried fitting arms and driveshafts from another car?

Also anyone else modified there XC in any way? I'd love to know what works.

thanks

yeah the XC is good fun, but as you say pretty unstable. I suppose it's more of crawler than a racer so the handling is never going to be great.

the only mods I've made to my XB pajero was to get rid of the bumper and add an aluminium skid plate in it's place that goes right back to front pickups for the trailing arms, also changed the crappy friction dampers, now its got blitzer beetle front shocks and good old mardave meteor shocks at the back!! much improved articulation!!

I have seen where the xc has been modified to use 2.2 in rims and tires. You have to use a rim with a lot of offset like a duratrax or traxxas set of wheels. They look really cool but tax the drivetrain.

While yes a XC is tippy, I like it that way. You have to drive with respect just like you would your real 4X4.

You can widen the front track of the XC by changing the front uprights, kingpins, bearings and wheelaxles from the original TA02-type to the TA01-type. A direct fit. Here's the parts you need (old -> new):

2 x 1260 + 2 x 1510 bearings -> 4 x 1150 bearings

50555 TA02 uprights -> 0445098 TA01 uprights

50604 TA02 wheelaxles -> 50823 TA01 wheelaxles

50585 TA02 King pins (Step screws) -> 2090009 TA01 King Pins (Step Screws), or maybe rather the more available, sligthly more expensive but lighter 53141 4WD Touring & Rally Car Lightweight King Pins

If you want to widen the front track even more, you can use 50808 TG10 Long Wheel Axle with hex hubs from the 53345 "(TL01, M03) Toe-In Rear Upright" sprue. Also a direct fit.

Other than different wheels with more offse, like Shodog has pointed out already, I have no suggestions on widening the rear track. [8)]

great, thanks all

I also think the CR-V body is a bit top heavy, so I'm just in the process of slapping a lexan tourer on it to give that a try.

And I agree about the scale ness of the car I just want to push it a little further!
