Ah man major bummer @MadInventor. Not sure what I can say to help but the tractor is a beauty.

As was joked in another thread recently its another step up the creativity chain moving into your own fabrication.

Theres also the dilemma of will you put a farmer figure in it? I think Tamiya do a truck driver type guy and theres the one with the cowboy hat that could work.

I'd like an update on the CC01, and although I was stoked when the CC02 came out, I still haven't bought one, because I feel it costs more and offers less than older competitors like the MST CFX.  I actually like that the CC01 has independent front suspension, and I think if Tamiya could update it to remove the flaws in the rear axle, fix the dodgy steering and get rid of the ugly front brick, they'd have a really nice scale chassis.  It could be multi-purpose too - it's an ideal platform for things like Pajeros and Rangers (for which Tamiya already has body options in or not long out of production) and a host of other 4x4 pickups and SUVs that had IFS in the real world (some of which have bodies available from other mfrs), but also it could be used for Dakar and rally raid cars (there was a rally raid Pajero and the Dakar Tuareg on the original CC01), as well as a modified low-chassis version for classic rally cars like the Mk2 Escort.

I also second calls for a genuine crawler / scaler chassis, although if they design the CC01-replacement to be modular, like the Element Enduro, they could tick both boxes.  One option has IFS, one has solid axles.  Swapping chassis rails (which are a cheap stamped metal part) and driveshafts gives options for SWB cars, even as short as the CC01, if they design it right.  But personally I doubt it will happen.

For a long time I was calling for a proper scale buggy, and finally it seems we have one - however it may just have come a little late for me, as not planning on adding any new cars to my fleet (yeah, I know, I say that this time every year...)

Absolutely - a series of Le Man racers would be amazing. Makes me ask why they developed the TC-01 chassis in the first place? Surely they must have some future models coming up to make the whole venture worthwhile.

For me there's only one model I really want, a Lancia Fulvia in full rally trim. I'd love them to develop it as a standard rally/touring car size at 190mm and sit it on a new FF RA chassis, if they could take influence from the crawler world and develop some "scale" wheels and tyres even better.

If he is in a working garage he would need a confused look on his face and a large hammer in his hand :)

I agree.

If they do, I hope Tamiya does more hard shells like they did with the Pajero metal top. Very nice details and sturdy. I would like to see a hard shell Toyota LC70 (3-door & 5 door)

I'm picky to what kits I want, basically only the BB-01 has caught my eye lately.

But this would be fantastic!

@alvinlwh How about getting the scale Bob Ross figure and adapting him to early years Clarkson? The hair is close :D

If you want to go the whole hog, here's some inspiration...

I found a fat Clarkson (or had he always been fat?) figure but the biggest it can come in is 1:19. Not quite big enough.

Im currently re-building a CC-01, it looks like they fixed the issue with the rear diff sliding out of place too much. The steering is still..."steering".

If I knew anyone that made wheels that were close enough to that style I'd build a prototype. I have a few chassis in mind that would work and I'd make the body.

I would love a Tamiya Saab 900 turbo! But i think it will newer happens, to small market for that.

As a Swedish guy i would love it though!

Seeing the outstanding static aircraft models Tamiya makes it would be cool if they made some type of XSA style almost ready to fly park flyer plane in a durable foam core construction with a simple pitch/ yaw elevator/rudder 4 channel control radio.

x3. CC02 was a huge disappointment in my book.

I'd like to see it scaled up a bit, closer to the Kyosho 4Runner size so more modern bodies and tires can be adopted.  CC01 is kind of in a class of its own unfortunately.

There's a huge market out there for scale trucks, still puzzles me why Tamiya refuses to jump in. Look at the TC01 - incredibly complex touring chassis design  that is most like a one-off. But won't take a chance on a scale truck. Why?

That would've been perfect on a FWD M-chassis, not many Swedish car RC body shells unfortunately.

My one and only guess is that scale trucks aren't a huge thing in Japan.

I really wish they would make some racing off road buggy’s again, even if it’s just db0 level. Or just re release some upper models.

I’m racing a td2, but the limitations with wheels suggests to me it was never ment for serious racing, especially considering Tamiyas own race wheels don’t fit, neither do run of the mill race wheels. it’s the reason I don’t think I’ll try racing the TD4. (That and a lack of raceworthy bodys, lack of carbon reinforced parts)

don’t get me wrong my td2 does quite well, but it’s not straightforward. Certainly not value for money if you compare it to a modern race chassis.

that being said, if your racing a tamiya, it’s not because it’s value for money or because other people are doing it.

I wish Tamiya would bring out any one of their new TT02 kits with a TA03 under it. I realize "not new" but still, the heart wants what it wants.

I would agree. I'm surprised a company going so long in the RC industry haven't dabbled in other RC areas such as planes, boats, submarines etc

There was a smale range of RC sailing boats years ago.  56201 - 56205. Maybe it was not that popular so it was discontinued?!

Kyosho has also dabbled in sail boats , motorcycles , too.

World Solar Challenge:

Actual functional solar panels, and no normal battery as such; a very small, less than ~250 mAh battery.  I think the battery would be sized to run the thing for 1-2 minutes tops, and run 5 minute (or more) races.  The real thing does have a significant battery, but they are also trying to run all day.  'Normal' Challenger class (above), or cruiser class (Below):

There are plenty of STEM style solar car projects out there, but no 'Models, suitable for radio control' that are models of real competitors. A racing class for this might be interesting as well.

Very Cool!  ...And it was released 30 years ago; missed it! :D  They went very light on the construction; the lexan body was the chassis.  I like that.  Looks like a capacitor with no battery.  I think a super capacitor would be a great compromise.  It is time for Tamiya to make another, as a model of one actually in a race.

After watching that video, and going down a rabbit hole on that stuff a bit on youtube I came across this University Comeptition:
