Tamiya Spanner Thing

So ... we all have lots and lots of the spanner thing. It's a Tamiya staple. If any of you have collected Hot Wheels, you will know about the Super Treasure Hunts (limited versions of the standard model). What about Tamiya doing the same for the spanner. In random kits, they place a candy red spanner or neon orange one etc etc. Could make for an entertaining side show.

Interesting marketing idea. So people will buy one kit for running, one for the shelf, one for NIB and additional five in hope fore the limited edition spanner.

Great idea.  Kinda like the golden ticket.  The winners get an all expense paid tour of the Tamiya facility!

I'm surprised that they don't do that, especially in the limited edition kits.

The thing is, you would have to open the box and unsealed some stuff to know if you got lucky or not.

Are those aluminum or zinc? It would be cool to have anodized ones to match the main color theme of the car: green for Grasshopper, blue for Avante, etc.

You could drill a small hole through one , and wear it on a chain as a pendant.

I've seen that! Can't remember where though. I also thought about doing that to one of my old ones once it gets rounded out enough, although 30 years later it's still mostly usable so I haven't had the chance!

Or do this, I have so many laying around I thought it was a great idea.

Not my idea by the way, someone here on Tamiyaclub had a gold set they framed and I thought it looked really nice, but I can’t find the post to give them credit, sorry 😬

I drilled a hole through a box wrench and have it on my car keys.  More as a fashion statement / talking point than for practicality.
