Plastic whitening & effects on tyres

Recommended Posts

Hi All

Second question...I am aware of the technique for whitening ABS plastic. Does anyone know if keeping the tyres on the wheels whilst doing it is possible? My tyres are cracked and so I am concerned they may be ruined by removing them first

Cheers

Paul

I’m pretty certain any whitening process would damage rubber? If the tyres are cracked is it not time to change them anyway, or are they just shelf sitters?

I'll definitely change them if it's possible to find some!

There are various preparations that can be used to re condition rubber. Might be worth trying that before trying to remove the from the wheels if that’s the way you go. What wheels/tyres are you dealing with. By the sound of it they are “vintage and or rare”
