a buddy list feature?

hi Chris........i find myself alot searching for a member in the showroom listing..........lots of times i cant remember the member's hole correct club name........i was wondering how hard would it be to have a buddy list....so that everyone can add there favorite friends showroom for easy findings later or something similar....just a idea i had.the club still rawks all the same[]

i also had a idea that might be easier........the search for a member engine.......maybe modify it...........like if i was to type in just the first letter of someones club name.......anyone's club name begining in that letter to show up

hello yes i realize that is there........but you basically have to type in alot of the person's name for something to pop up..i was thinking maybe make it more forgiving......

well scratch this idea.......thats why i call myself cant get right lol.............the search engine works just fine:)..and it does show results for just one letter.....[^]

I was going to post a new subject about this idea but then saw this thread and it's close to my idea.

I also like to trawl through models for ideas, reference and inspiration and would love to be able to "add to favourites" when i see a nice showroom model. Then i can quickly come back to them again. A new tab showing my favourites would be great. Perhaps you could have display options to sort them by date/time added so you get the most recent at the top or by model so they are grouped. You could also have the ability to show/not show thumbnails. The ability to add a quick and simple note against each would be great.

Surely easy enough to implement Chris? []

Try the new search functionality, that works well. Just type in some info that was on the showroom model and it will appear in the list. It works great. I often use it to list models that have homebuilt parts or customised chassis etc.

The other easy thing to do is set yourself up with a new folder in your favourites folder in IE. Just add the showrooms of your favourite TC members in there. That is what I do if I need to store something for future reference.

Poor Chris has enough to do without adding functionality that already exists in the browser? anyway, I'd like a 'poll' option as well and he will be busy enough doing that [][]

I didn't think of using the browser favourites in that way so that's a good idea thanks although it's hardly an integrated solution and since i view the TC pages on a variety of different computers it's hardly a practical one. I'll try the new search functionality and see how that goes.

I realise that Chris is very busy but i'm sure he welcomes ideas and suggestions from users however easy or difficult to implement so he can ascertain which things would be worth the effort or help users the most. I would personally find this feature very helpful indeed while others may not. Unless we speak up about these ideas though right here then it's tough for Chris to know what to do next i'm sure.

Incidentally i'm a professional web developer by trade (which is probably why i didn't think to use the browser ;-) ) and have offered to help with the site in my spare time for free to help the club.

I do agree it would be a nice integrated solution and it has been raised a few times but I was just trying to suggest a workaround until a proper one gets done []
