I dont know if its just me or does anyone else get annoyed when people add entries to their showrooms and give no description?

for me i like to read how they got the car, where it came from and the life its been through, aswell as just looking at the pictures.

just thought id out this on here.

No I am with you on this, I must admit myself that I am not a good 'story teller' and sometimes my descriptions show that I have rushed them a bit however I always try and give a basic listing of whats been going on.

I've often seen models where i've thought how've they done that etc. but nothing listed :-(

It's all part of the showrooms in my eyes.

Funny you should mention this. Not 5 minutes ago I was just saying to my girlfriend exactly the same thing. While I like looking at the photos, I always find it extremely interesting to read about the cars history, the rebuild process or the hunt for that last elusive part. For me the bigger the read, the better. [:)]

I'm not exactly the worlds greatest writer but it only takes a couple of minutes to write a few sentences.

LOL, I don't get annoyed as such but I do enjoy the stories as much as the pictures and I get frustrated sometimes when I see a model that has obviously had lots of work done on it but no information about how it was done.

Having said that I think I write TOO much in my showroom entries.....[:I]

Anyone read any descriptions by Wldnas (I think that's his name), wow, talk about every detail [:P]

No offence BTW [;)]

I like everyone else like to read details on the cars, the longer and more detailed, the better but for NIB kits, there is not much to write but maybe "went to my LHS and paid hard earned cash for my kit on a cold rainy day" other than that I agree with the topic.

Like to add that no description does not annoy me, I have a lot of other things to get annoyed about but that's for another forum. [;)]

I'm with Ian, it takes much more than a lack of description to get me annoyed. That said I like to read them, but it doesn't bother me if there is nothing there.

At the end of the day, everyone use's the club how they want, everyone has different views on what they want to do with their showroom, different time constraints, writing ability, even language.

Rather than negative threads about being annoyed my guess is it would be much more beneficial having threads with a positive spin, which encouraged people to write more - tips, suggestions on why its a good thing and what the benefits etc. Chances are there are good percentage of 'no description' people that will definately not write description now if they now it annoys someone else[;)] so we need to ignore that percentage and try and convert others, that don't do descriptions because 'they can't see the point' etc

I also like to read descriptions, it gives a story to the cars. Unless I am prepared to sit down and write something I don't add the car vto my showroom. It does require a little bit more effort though rather than just taking a picture and uploading it. I'm sure cars without descriptions must get less views as well. As the showroom browse page states whether it has a description or not I generally avoid the ones without. I find usually all you are seeing is a bigger image of the thumbnail as if there is no description there is usually only one image.

Ok, i didnt mean i get annoyed, just i like to read the descriptions, especially if the car has been modified or restored etc, but if there isnt a description and just one picture, it kinda frustrates me.

It's nice to read a bit of background on a model, and nice to be able to leave a comment. I don't really know why some people don't allow comments on their models, but that's up to them I suppose. Description of a NIB is a bit pointless really, unless it's a difficult to get hold of item or has some sort of background to it.

At the end of the day it's up to people if they want to write a sentence or an article about their model, and I think a model with some background information would be more interesting than one without.

I'd better recheck my showroom now and make sure I've described all of mine [:P]

I certainly like a good read, especially if the item has an interesting and/or lots of modifications. I therefore try to give a bit of info on all my items although writers block does happen at times! It has to be said though, some items don't need much or any description.
