Cephas Posted May 30, 2023 Posted May 30, 2023 I have seen a number of people use the technique I am going to try, always wanted to do a four link on a Lunchbox. I am going to use a number of Monster Uk upgrades to make it all work, hence the Monster reference in the title. Using the D7 parts to make the front mounts for the four link is the start. 4
Cephas Posted May 30, 2023 Author Posted May 30, 2023 Next I used the Monster Uk rear suspension mount and flipped the axle over so that the old axle mount becomes the wheelie bar and the carbon fibre mount becomes the new mounting point for the four link 1
Cephas Posted May 30, 2023 Author Posted May 30, 2023 Next the panhard bar, had to put a spacer in one end for the suspension mount to clear. all seems to work smoothly without any binding, needs a bit of fine tuning, but happy with it so far. 2
Cephas Posted May 30, 2023 Author Posted May 30, 2023 I modified some generic crawler shock mounts to use as bottom shock mounts attached to the carbon filter four link mount 9
Grumpy pants Posted May 30, 2023 Posted May 30, 2023 Nice project - will be watching this thread with interest. Is the idea behind the 4 link rear end to improve the handling? I’m pretty @Saito2 has modded his LB rear end using a 4 rod link set up. 1
Cephas Posted May 30, 2023 Author Posted May 30, 2023 Yes that’s part of what sparked my interest in trying it, as I have a stock Lunchbox. Somewhere I saw one that had used the stock gearbox/ axle and just flipped it over, that and Monster Uk are making some good upgrades for the Lunchbox. so I am adding it all together in one. I am interested to see how it will handle 4
Saito2 Posted May 30, 2023 Posted May 30, 2023 Good memory @Grumpy pants. It will handle better, probably the best it possibly can while still retaining a solid motor on axle design. 1
Cephas Posted June 9, 2023 Author Posted June 9, 2023 It’s well made, changed the plastic tie rod ends for alloy ones I have spare 2
Cephas Posted June 9, 2023 Author Posted June 9, 2023 I was going to use the upgrade from option1 to replace the stock A10 part, but the fitting is not great, so I went back to the stock part for now.
Cephas Posted June 9, 2023 Author Posted June 9, 2023 Front end is complete, much better than the Ampro one on my other Lunchbox. seems to have made the front track width slightly wider than the rear, unless this is normal, not an issue as I was looking to widen the width anyway 4
Grumpy pants Posted June 9, 2023 Posted June 9, 2023 Looks good, interesting that is it better than the Ampro set. 2
Carmine A Posted June 10, 2023 Posted June 10, 2023 That front end looks better than Ampro or the old FX10 conversion...... The burning question, is it terribly expensive? Considering that it's for a entry-level kit....
Cephas Posted June 10, 2023 Author Posted June 10, 2023 It was £50 so depends on what you call expensive, for a Lunchbox probably but considering how far I am taking it, for me not really as I don’t build many cars in a year. For me they have to be a runner ( which this one will be ) I limit myself to 5 runners at any one time or a shelf queen of which I have 2 and room for 2 more. 3
Cephas Posted December 6, 2023 Author Posted December 6, 2023 Made sone wheel spacers for the rear wheels, as the monster Uk front end is wider than stock. could not find any spacers that weren’t ridiculously wide, so had to make some. 5
Nikko85 Posted December 7, 2023 Posted December 7, 2023 How does it handle? I've got the UK monsters front and could be tempted with a 4 link on rear! 1
Wooders28 Posted December 10, 2023 Posted December 10, 2023 Looking to be some build!! 👌 Been on my radar, since watching the Lunchbox run almost 50mph on 6s, in the speedrun thread !

Did you machine those yourself??!!
Cephas Posted December 11, 2023 Author Posted December 11, 2023 They are eBay alloy stock mounts and an aluminium spacer. The two are glued and pinned together, 4 pins through both bonded with JB weld. Hopefully it will be strong enough only running a sport tuned motor
