A few days ago I received a comment containing inappropriate language for our site (new comment about car # 49154 NIB Tyrrell P34 in my showroom)

Even if we do have the option to erase comments, no one wants to receive anything like this.

I do not know if non members can leave comments in showrooms but I do know that if the author of that comment is a TC member, I would like to see his membership cancelled.

I got one meself a week or so ago, commenting on the 'quality' of this 'web'

Real intelligent, well presented grammar and impeccable spelling, signed off by someone suggesting I visit his 'southern regions'

The only trouble I can see with a 'filter' is that it is a little over protective on the showrooms at the minute, s c r a p e d being one of the oft-filtered words, yet quite an RC relevant one.

I think it's summat you just gotta accept for the time being, same as stupid mails and spam [V]

I blocked all comments from my showroom for that very reason at the same time satisfying myself that these individuals are generally blessed with the IQ of a single cell oranism. They know who they are and can all run along as far as I'm concerned!!

I worried this might happen, which is why there is an option the for subscriber only comments - this means only paid up (ie not just passing) members can leave comments. Not only does this stop most unwanted comments it also means if anyone does get abusive I can track them down and ban them [:)]

Turning off the comments feature altogether is just a 'head in the sand' approach I'm afraid

1. it means they won in winding you up and stop you getting the vast majority of positive feedback

2. if they really wanted to hassle you they can still do it via the 'contact a member' feature

There will always be idiots out there, just ignore them and don't let them influence what you do, otherwise they get to go away with a warm glow happy in the knowledge they upset someone else.

Cheers

Well, the 'contact member' button iam not sure it works... because when i was new here i contacted some members a few times but never got an answer...

Maybe they didn't wanted to answer but there might be a possabilaty it doesn't work? Or annyone allready tested it...?

The beauty of this feature is that you don't have to add the comments to your showroom. I let them all roll in then decide which ones I will add.

Contact a member seems ok to me - really the only reason it might not work is if the person you are sending too has the wrong email address entered on the club. If they do they run the risk of thier membership being closed down.

Sorry Chris, I disagree.

(i) They don't wind me up...they're just idiots. I do not post models in my showroom to solicit feedback whether it be positive or negative. I do not really care what other people think of my collection. However, if what I have done has given other members some ideas, or they take one of my ideas further then thats a good thing.

(ii) You're right anybody can hassle me via the contact a member button but as my response would come direct from my email address rather than through TC, I have the facility to respond in the appropriate manner.....and if they persist they will regret it.

In any case lets not get bent all outa shape on this, as always it is a small minority of people who think they are funny......sorry guys It's not clever, its not funny and nobody is laughing!!

I like the comments feature, I have it enabled to allow all comments rather than just TC members. I too have had a few abusive comments left which I have not added but for the most part I will always add comments whether positive OR negative. It is quite interesting to get negative comments sometimes or neutral, helpful ones.

I guess I've had nearly a hundred comments of which only a few were negative and only a couple so abusive I had to delete them.

I find it very frustating when people haven't enabled the comment feature because there have been several models that I thought were stunning and warranted praise. I know I could always email the member but leaving a comment also raises the models profile to other members as it then appears in the comments on the home page.

I'm not sure if I'm the only one but I tend to view all the models that have comments against them on home page when I first login.

Sadly, the web has promoted the feeling of anonimity which allows people to say things that they wouldn't do if they were face to face. In many ways this can be great (especially for those who romance via ICQ etc [;)] ) but the downside is the abuse. Especially noticeable in the youngsters that frequent the web. Even in the real world I have noticed kids have generally less respect and swear more freely these days. When I was a kid I would have been beaten alive if I swore......

Sorry P.Sports I just misunderstood on point one when you said " blocked all comments from my showroom for that very reason " earlier on I did not realise it is because you don't want any feed back

On the second point the emails you get can be as anonymous as the comments as the return address is just a free text input box, its can be anything - so you still have no 'right of reply'.

But like I said before any sort of reply is just encouragement for these people. Infact they are probably getting quite a buzz out of this very thread.

cheers

You can't please everyone...but what I would do is leave the comment and post a link to your site...Let everyone see who and what an fool this guy is thus turning a negative into a positive...[:I]

No worries Chris. Don't get me wrong I was flattered when fellow members left comments/positive feedback on my collection.....(unfortunately I couldn't respond because my TC ID is too long). However, when other members felt the need to question my motives for displaying my collection I figured that I didn't need the attention and binned the lot.

Rest assured if there are any members who wish to ask a question about anything in my showroom then please feel free to drop me an email. PS Nothing has a 'For sale' ticket on it at the moment so please don't ask.
