The track that I race at (just started this year after a decade break) in Perth, Australia, is a 10th scale dirt track. My track is also a dirt track. This kit will work great. Will need 1 for Malaysia, 1 for Perth & 1 for the shelf. Money not enough :(

West Coast RC?

Yes

Cool. Pretty good club there. I've gone there to watch and marshal a couple of times. Haven't raced yet.

We paying  for the research

To be exact $100 more for research of stripping the Ultima down and slapping a graphite chassis.

Now excuse me while I hop over to tower and place my order lol 😂

How much is the price in Oz?

I did think that this was an expensive kit, but then noticed that the standard Ultima over here in the UK is now £320 :o ...so not actually hugely cheaper.

When did the Ultima get so expensive? I'm sure I only paid about £240 for mine when it first came out.

Anyway, I've pre-ordered this new one too. A combination of FOMO, added to the fact that I've got all of the Legendary Series so far, so my OCD took over as I can't have one missing from the total collection.

I think we will see one of the LWB Optima Mids next.

@Wandy you own the gold Fantom in your collection?   I ordered the WC 60th Ultima, but I am still missing the white/green Fantom and the gold Fantom..

BTW, you also need to get at least one Fazer Mk2 chassis car, Mini-Z 4x4, and a Blizzard if you're a true Kogawa-san fan. ;)

It uses the Tomahawk body, that allows room for some potential nice detail!

Cheapest I saw is $680, and others over $740. I got my Ultima recently for $440. 30% more will be too much for me I’m afraid, unless I can find one O/S with reasonable shipping, this one will not be joining my collection at that price. Luckily, I haven't got all of the Legendary Series releases as I would be the same as you, and needing it, but I’ve not got the Beetle, Turbo Scorpion, any of the Fantoms, Turbo Optima or Mid, so easy to say no to this one.

Yep me too. I don't think that off road buggies should be allowed to race on tracks made of smooth "false grass"!

And, "high grip" shouldn't be in the vocabulary of off road racers... (other opinions are available).

Yea the slick high grip track is an abomination but the massive jumps are a deal breaker for me. Not only is it hard on the car over time, it's just not how it was done.

Funny that back then to win meant simply stripping a chassis of weight. There was no knowledge of chassis flex vs stiffness, corner speeds etc.

I wonder if they even had a minimum weight?

Actually there was. Can't remember exactly but i think it was between 1,400g-1,600g. We'd weigh in our kits during registration, batteries included. When I was racing the Frog, my kit was one of the heaviest aside from the SRBs. But the RC10s, Ultimas were so light that they had to add weights to level with the minimum requirement.

Got the gold Fantom on pre-order so should be here soon. Had to buy the Le Mans gold motor for it too of course.

I'm not going down the full Kogowa rabbit hole though, my wallet couldn't handle it.

Have you tried Stella? Up until recently I have bought all of my Legendary Series from them as I was getting them for about 30% cheaper than the UK, but the Optima Mid I got from them only ended up being about £20 cheaper so I didnt bother contacting them about the two 60th anniversary kits.

If you don’t get a response by email try their WhatsApp as they seem to respond better via that whenever I contact them. Not sure what has happened to them in recent years as they used to be superb at their comms but they have gone off the radar in recent years. I think Brexit damaged a lot of their sales to the UK so they focus on local customers more.

Will pass on this one! Too expensive due to current Australian 65 cents currency to the $1USD

It was more than stripping the chassis of weight. Joel had a car that was able to have a balanced chassis to place electronics and used higher quality shocks than stock that helped with corner speed and terrain. He also used a better body.

The body that comes with this is a Tomahawk. Is that what he used?
