Help please, my new to me Bear Hawk is missing the correct steering adjuster rods, I need a 89mm and 70mm, does anyone know where to source these from please?

It came with what I thought was the 89mm adjuster but that turns out to be a bit longer at about 93mm, if I’m measuring it from end to end including the S shape.

I then bought a set for a Grasshopper rods stated at 53 and 70mm… however the 70mm one is actually 74mm long measured to the end of the S part.

if you’re still reading give yourself a pat on the back, you got one from me!

While I have your attention, does anyone know the part number to buy this servo saver in the build manual?

Unless you are going completely stock, get a Kimbrough srvo saver, some proper tamiya ball ends and connectors and 200mm of M3 threaded rod off ebay you can cut to length. Stronger, more reliable, will definitely work.

Thanks Dragon, I’d forgotten about bodging your own parts, now I remember Kimbrough!

All those mentioned parts are now ordered, thanks a ton pal 🏆

My cheap hack is to use stainless steel 2.0mm bicycle spokes as tie rods, cut and bent to the right length. They have the same diameter, but a slightly larger thread size than the original tie rods, and those threads seem to grip into the plastic ends a bit better, having less chance of stripping out.

I used a bicycle spoke to make me a missing steering servo rod!

Old bicycle spokes are great, when you have to build up some missing parts.

But i think i used 1.8mm reduced spokes, a bit easier to make the bends on them.

Indeed, I saw your fix, nice job! I did try a 1.8mm butted spoke at one point, but found that I actually need something a little beefier, so switched back to 2mm spokes everywhere.

Home brew 🏆

Thanks for the tip guys, never used these and didn’t know you could buy them individually or that they were threaded!
