Ive been into RCs for more than 20 years, but never fully into anything Tamiya. My only previous experience with Tamiya was with a TLT. This was back in the early days of crawlers and scalers when there was not any of the already made rigs you can find today. We built our chassis, used transmissions from buggies like the Traxxas Stampede and close to scale axles. Those were frequently sourced from Tamiya's TLT kits. I bought a few TLTs at a time were there was a discount, 80 dollars each, used the axles and some hardware, home made links, had a lot of fun.

Recently wanted to build some Tamiya kits with a vintage flavor and chose the WO Blockhead. Here is where it sits now. Wheels are RC4WD Slot Mags 1.55 and are there just to have a rolling chassis, although they kind of fit the vintage feel.  I changed the round headlights for more realistic ones since the OEM ones looked toyish to me.

Would love to know your opinion. I know its not to the level of the seasoned members here but Ive been having a lot of fun with this one! Waiting on some Sand Scorcher wheels and more scale tires for it.

Looking good so far. How will you be connecting the lights? Will they connect into some sort of lighting control box?

To the receiver 3rd channel.  It will have power all the time and will turn on once the ESC turns on too. At least thats the plan.

If interested, you can get a switch module for like $11 on Amazon where you can program ch3 to turn on/off your lights from the radio (if 3ch system or more).. including throttle so the brake light turns on when less than 15% throttle or whatever using mix if your radio offers it.  GL with your build!  B)

Yeah! I used one in my RC4WD build. Mine is more simple with only the function of turning on and off the lights from the transmitter by channel 3. Dont feel like doing it in this one since space is limited in that tub. My RC4WD scaler:

Yeah, I’ve looked at various alloy ones from different sellers/manufacturers and usually end with the same conclusion:lol:

Got my driver head. still need to paint its face. Went for a vintage color for the helmet. Also installed rear lights with left over parts from the WO and the RC4WD Toyota Pickup ( some Tamiya parts I got for it).
