Hi,

Yesterday I built TT-02B/DF-02 shocks. What I found straight from the box is that front springs were not the same length. They are the same but for some reason, total length is different.

Effect is quite obvious: shocks set to the same position, have different spring tension.

To have the same return speed of arms, I have to set them like above. Not the best situation, because in real conditions it will be quite hard to find the same setting for both shocks.

Have you ever had the same situation as mine? Any ideas what to do?

Well, I can only say, that shop where I bought them are not the best in technical things... So return is not an option, because I do not want to spend time discussing with them about that kind of things.

Maybe it is good idea to disassemble them and "manually" stretch them to same length?

Ok, problem solved. I stretched shorter spring a bit, so they are the same length now. Both arms return at the same speed.

What I found is that one shock feels bit stiffer compared to opposite, when checked without spring. Maybe it is case of air bubbles, maybe it is friction of new parts. I do not know, I will check after some time.

To be honest, I also had doubts if it will change something. At the end, it helped or at least something changed and now everything is fine.

They should feel the same, and extend back to the same spot (or not all all) when compressed with no spring on.  If they extend differently, or feel different, then you need to rebuild.  Could be one has more oil in it (or air).  Or worse, something internal (o-ring, damper cap) isn't seated right.  Ensure they have the same pistons too.

I will rebuild them but not now. Sooner or later I will change something, because it is new car, so adjustment will be needed.

I think that grease on orings can also affect how they feel. I do not know, we will see.
