-200 error, upload failed

Recommended Posts

I'm having the same issue, to add to it, the browser console reads:
Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 403 () on the uri https:||www.tamiyaclub.com|forum|index.php?|topic|104684-200-error-upload-failed|
(Replaced the slashes with a pipe to prevent inserting a link in this post)

Tried renaming, resizing and changing filetype, nothing seems to help for me.

Same here, still not able to upload any pics.

Interestingly on my end, I get one -200 error popup for each pic.

So if I attempt to upload 3 pics, it generates 3 identical popup boxes with the -200 error.

I'll take another look. Its a tricky one as the error is caused by the code that protects the site of malicious hacker attacks, basically its looks at a whole bunch of things to do with the upload and scores them, if the combined score is over a certain figure then it marks it as an attack which is what then causes the error (although technically its not an error its the system saying 'no') The score is made up of over 20 different tests - which is why it works for some people, for others when they resize etc and not at all for others, I need to experiment with how I can lower the threshold without raising the risk.

watch this space.

Thanks @netsmithUK it’s indeed a 403 I’m seeing.

Please let me know if/when there’s anything specific to test to help you track this down.

Hi, sorry when I first posted in the wrong thread but I simply wasn't aware that a thread for this "error" already exists.

I made similar experiences with the "-200"- error. Funny thing is, that some pictures work and some don't. And the pictures that work are often larger than the ones that didn't work. Actually I found no rules. Some minutes ago I created a thread and uploaded images which have been created the same way as one image that did not work in a different thread. So no visual regularity for me. I will try some of the workarounds which have been posted in this thread. At least some relief for me, that I am not the only one with this behaviour.

Thanks and Cheers

Martin

Tamiyastef has reported that making sure you are using the https:// address and not the http:// worked for him.

I have the same and everytime I have this it seems I'm at http and not https... Since I've deleted the http links in my browser history it's fine.

Apparently I am using the correct type, what is irritating me is the warning sign on the left:

tc_link.jpg.df212c8f1556d5fbf761b4583323e5b7.jpg

I will look into my browser history.

Thanks and regards

Martin

EDIT: I checked my browser history and everything including TC is all starting with "https//"

2nd EDIT: Tried some things with the picture that don't want to work including screenshot, resizing and renaming. No progress. Took another picture of the same timeline: Worked without any issue. I don't understand it.

I think I had this but can't remember for sure, I think the image was either too big, the wrong image file format or I had run out of upload allowance.

If you cannot resolve this problem, upload to an image hosting site (such as postimages.org) and just post links (they may even be embedded into your post, without someone having to click a link).

Thank you for also trying to help in this specific topic. I am not sure, but sometimes I got the impression that the upload does not like images with a more square format. Most of the images that did not work for me had a quite similar width/height relation.

Well I could use my own webspace to get the images included in the threads/posts ... but ... I believe that topic related images should stay with the forum/thread/post they are connected to. If someone leaves a forum or dies or whatever, these images would be lost and the thread quite worthless. On the other hand I am aware that holding pictures within a forum means that the dedicated serverspace had to be accordingly what means additional costs. I am always willing to pay a specific "charge" in a forum, to get the luxury of images embedded in the forums themselves.

I personally don't like the idea of imagehosting services. A lot of people hopped on these services when they were free of charge, resulting in lots of threads in forums I visited that you see the picture of a green frog instead of a picture of the discussed item or you get a banner claiming "exceeded bandwith" or the hosting service changes policy and people had to pay a lot of money to get access to their images.

Cheers

Martin

I'm the same way @urban warrior.  I don't like 3rd party hosting sites and will never use them to link photo's to forums.  In the past at car forums, there were members that bought extended memberships for me just so that I would stick around and post more photo's.     I'm not expecting that from TC, but I started posting over on instagram mostly out of frustration from issues like this -200 error and maxed out memory.   Available memory is much too small for 2023.

I noticed for photo's I get -200 error, I just upload a larger file of the same photo and it uploads.  It consumes a lot of my attachment memory however..

I just had a bunch of upload failures with the resulting -200 error - the file is 508k on my desktop, got squashed to 492k and failed to upload (time out issue?). Redid it a bunch of times, and eventually it worked. Using https:// by the way.

Thank you!!  I just tried uploading a slightly larger version of my photo and it worked. :D
