If you make a thread, so will I ;) I enjoyed making one for my M-05 but it did take me an enormous amount of extra time. Now I feel selfish for not doing the same for the rally car 😅

Deal. They do take a lot of time but I feel they are good for the forum. And good to look back on👍

Here are a few I really like :

https://www.youtube.com/@theoagrc is done by our own @Misterp180. He did some good videos showing his conversion of a small back garden space into a mini race track illustrating its possible for any of us to create a driving space. He also does time trials with his various cars on his track, The Orchard Raceway :) He also discusses the cars and their hop ups. He is currently in a battle for fastest TT02 in the Poor Boys RC online challenge and he films the modifications and attempts which is also great for learning. They are nice calm videos instead of some of the loud shouty channels.

https://www.youtube.com/@MarkBryanRC is another calm Brit. He does a selection of different videos. I just recently watched 3 videos he did on hop ups and mods to improve a stock TT-02 for either road or rally running. Really good explanations and I used them when deciding on hop ups for my next build which is a TT-02. He is also taking part and filming his attempts for the Poor Boys RC online challenge and I think there is some fun rivalry between Mark and @Misterp180 in this challenge :)

What a lovely summary of out channels!! Was nice to see some positive feedback on our fun 🙌🏻

I started doing YouTube during the pandemic mainly after watching Mark Bryan and Vintage Backyard RC!! I enjoyed coming up with ideas to Vlog as much as the modelling part of the hobby. I then discovered a community of likeminded YouTubers who are passionate about their RC cars and helping others out with their builds etc. We swap cars, talk on other media, send spare parts and, most importantly, meet up and drive our RCs together (where possible!!)

I understand that there are two types of YouTube channels that I watch. The career guys trying to monetise their channel (which is a tough gig I am told!) and hobbyists who want to document their fun and connect with others.

Even doing this for fun it is a lot of hard work but I enjoy watching my own content and reliving that Madcap build (thanks @Kol__) or my TD2.

You can see from @Gebbly post that I also enjoy running my cars on a very basic garden track. I enjoyed RC as a boy but it is way more accessible as an adult hobby. Getting out and running some cars and then fixing those that are broken is something I plan on doing until I can’t! YouTube may or may not still be going as I get older but if it is I hope a few people still find it interesting.

PS - I also enjoy all the content on this great forum even if I don’t always comment! You all rock 🤘🏻

That's really great (and fun to watch) I should find a suitable spot nearby as doing that in our garden would get me killed by the Misses.

I would absolutely love that. Somewhat organised car park racing/bashing with likeminded enthusiasts would be awesome!

Good to see some of the small but already recommended content on here such as Andy Robinson RC, Popalong RC (brilliant), RC So & So (came for the RC, stopped for the monologues. Love it), Kai City Rc and Pete Wylie RC. So I'll not repeat those.

Surprised no one has mentioned RC Icons, yet. Respect to his collection goals, and track building ambitions.

Scale Builders Guild I like too.

Tomley and Talbot are fun in their own way and deserve their following.

RC Kicks, I don't get any more. In sure Gavin is a lovely chap to meet, but his channel now seems like quick content for contents sake. Almost like he's done a course on making a living on YouTube (probably inspired by Talbot's videos), desperate for likes, subs and sponsors. And that hat, just stop.

In general I enjoy these Youtube channels, as they are kind of TV shows, with my favourite hobby. I primarely watch:

Nordic RC Vision: Entry level stuff showed in excellent quality, from a very nice guy.

Tamiya Legends: Well everybody loves Glenn, and his passion to RC is absolutely amazing, as well as his many amazing builds.

RCKicks: Love Gavins energy, and he has a lot of great builds. I know you guys complaint a bit about this prediction of the rere Falcon, but ok he was wrong there, but been on point so many times, on other stuff. I really like the many videos of all kind of old and new stuff. He’s giving all kind of RC’s a go, and for me it is very interesting to watch.

Matteo: Awesome videos. He has some serious skills making these videos, absolutely beautiful.

Probably a lot of other good channels, but must admit I am far behind on the ones already mentioned, so haven’t really got time to watch more, if I should have time to build and drive myself as well 😀

Shen RC is a good one

Steve runs a lot of Tamiya's and gives tips on cheap modifications, I recently watched his video on how to stop sand scorcher dampers from leaking.

And this guy that - I believe - is the official Tamiya driver?

https://youtube.com/@rc6055?feature=shared

heck yes, that’s Maezumi Satoshi san aka Paizen RC. He’s pretty much front face of Tamiya’s RC socials lately fronting up the vlogs & lives, hobby trade fairs etc

Quite a few T product badged with “MS” in his trademark pink/blue/white livery whilst he was an active TRF racer.

I recognize the face from some TRF team pictures I had seen at some point. It all makes sense now 😅

RC'ing around, arsing around,

Had to change his name to the RC Scotsman to conform with YouTube correctness.

I can't stand Kevin Talbot. He gets rich off of destroying RC vehicles and he does it, because all the bashers and young folk like that sort of thing. Gets him views and tons of money.

Mechanic after hours is great, but does not do very many videos. He's not a product pusher and seller, he just enjoys the hobby and shares his awesome custom builds.

I tend to stay away from product pushers....rcsaylors and such.

Addams Playground is nice and Addam is cool. Just another guy that enjoys the hobby and shares it with everyone.

Matteo is great with the humour and music of the drivers driving, really great. But he only seems to post videos on fb these days, I don’t know why. I don’t watch them on there.

Razor RC if you like content about race buggies rather than tamiya

https://m.youtube.com/@RazorRC

Also Ryan Harris has a nice presenting and filming style (mostly around racing again) but hasn’t made so many in recent months but old vids are good.  https://m.youtube.com/@RyanHarrisRC

Some time passed, I watched a lot of RC videos on YT, so now I can share my list. Probably most of you know them, but who knows.

Alexander Hagberg - not too many videos, but very interesting to see RC from PRO side.

discipline rc - bit crazy, probably annoying for some people, but I found that some of videos are quite nice. It does not look like totally "sponsored" channel, where everything is pretty and nice.

Mark Bryan RC - amateur, but very nice channel. I really like it, especially Build and Upgrade videos.

Nordic Hobby Visions and Nordic RC Visions - a lot of very nice videos about Tamiya Buggies. Builds, upgrades, tips, everything you need to know. Unfortunately, seems to be little "dead" now.

Popalong RC - this is hard one. I like both guys, but level of videos is really low. I even have feeling, that it is much worse than was before. I started to watch them about year ago, I checked many older videos and they were great. Now I have feeling that everything is done in "hurry" and they even started to advertise Team Corally if I am not wrong.

RC Retro - I found this channel yesterday and I really like it. Very informative, no adverts and sponsors everywhere. Really recommend to check it.

RC Driver Online - Should I call it advertising channel? I respect this guy a lot. I saw his website, I know that he has HUGE knowledge, also about Tamiya. However, channel is like one, big commercial. Almost everything is always great and recommended to buy...

Tamiya Legends - very similar vibe to Mark Bryan RC or RC Retro. Nice to watch, just to see things which are we interested in.

Tomley RC - I think this guy has his own style. It is really hard to say anything bad about this channel. Despite I am totally not interested in Chinese stuff and Traxxas, I really like to see his reviews.

and...

Kevin Talbot - yes, you can ban me for this. There is A LOT of videos, which are just stupid and you just think, why this guy do this. Some guests are annoying and appear more often than they should. However... there are some really nice ideas, which for 99,9% people in RC are not possible to achieve, because of budget. Speed Car build was one of those things. Bit sad, because when Kevin is even bit more serious than usual, videos are really great.

I only watch a few channels consistently, Tamiyas channel where they broadcast live race events and mini 4wd. Most of its on-road, but sometimes they will run Squash Vans and such.

Sometimes I watch Ryan Harris, his videos detailing the pitfalls of owning a cheap "off-brand" RC are worth watching for anyone considering an "off-brand" RC.

While RCDriver is seemingly incapable of criticism, his videos are informative, professional, and he's good about showing RCs in action, his format isn't far off from Ultimate RC. I used to unfairly criticize his content but it's actually decent.

For a long time I watched @PintopowerAampro channel, he used to make some very good videos detailing the ups and downs of vintage Tamiyas.

I generally try to avoid any channel the gives off-brand RCs glowing reviews for a quick pay check. More often than not, they draw blanks when I ask "where can I get replacement parts online?", or "where can I find aftermarket parts?".

Adding a couple I didn’t see posted already:

@rccartips - Joel has had his channel up for 15 years.  Lots of Tamiya content, lots of racers tips/tricks, big race content, and very clever tinkering (he’s currently working on making a TT01 based chassis competitive with the best sedans available).

@MRC-MATRIXRACINGCLUB - a small rc drift circuit in Japan with lots of great content and they also make drift conversion parts for Tamiyas including the buggies!

I agree, but it is still more like "Advertising Channel". It is hard to find information, what is wrong with particular RC.

If you watch this channel as "News" source, it is excellent. However, if you are looking for honest review, it is totally wrong place.

I agree, I treat RCDriver as a "news" source. But he keeps it professional (no whining about subs or no freebies) and he doesn't push off-brand RCs.

His latest FMS Hummer video was a little difficult to watch admittedly, "Wow! It can go through puddles at 3 mph!".

CompetionX has some decent 1:10 rally content, but they have the same problem where they can't risk biting the hand that feeds them.

Then I found Tomley RC or something like that. I thought it will be quite serious channel but it is like Talbot with lower budget. Bleh...

@Phil_H aka Tomley RC, is one of the only Youtube channels i regularly follow, mainly as i feel like I've grown up with the channel, with him starting it, with doing the speed runs with us, on this forum.

One of his newest vids, actually has an old speed run vid and screen shot of the thread-

Anyone but Talbot.

He destroys really expensive RC stuff in the name of a dollar.

Sends a pro level, nitro, Kyosho inferno 60 feet into the air and slams into a tree then shouts ..oooooooohhh!.

I'm in the minority, but the breaking of parts, then more importantly, the replacing of said broken parts from a local modelshop, can only only be a good thing for the economics of the hobby?

Are you saying, Talbot breaking and replacing parts, is helping the economy?

Nah, he wrecks models for YouTube views. I guess the younger generation likes to see models destroyed at a skatepark and he gets tons of views for that.

He literally said in a video, showing two pallets of model, cars, boats, stacked up, and ready for testing "winks at the camera"

Companies send that idiot stuff right and left.

Not necessarily

Its good for shops when they end up doing the repairs themselves (which happens a lot at my LHS). The profit margin on parts isn't the best (at least for Traxxas parts, good luck finding anything else!).

Then you have the groups that "break" brand new RCs, which neither helps manufacturers nor LHS's. Plenty of Arrma guys go that route, of course when LHS's are practically forbidden from carrying Arrma parts, it's kinda necessary.

To me, it's bad for the hobby when basher antics end up catching the attention of locals. RCDriver himself lost access to the BMX track that he used for videos, due to "bashers" making a mess out of the track.

So to answer your question, breaking parts is good for certain companies, but it's not necessarily good for hobby shops. At least not with the contracts that our LHS's have to work with.

No comment on KT, I don't watch his channel.

RC economy, absolutely!

Buying a new car once a year, then keeping it nice a pretty on a shelf,

Vs

Buying a new car once a year, launching it of a ramp, breaking it, buying parts ,launching off a ramp, breaking it, buying parts...aye!!! , if everyone did that, modelshop owners would all be driving ferrari's 🤣

Yep, same as whistlindiesel does with 'real' cars.

Kev won't pay for alot of his stuff, but if it encourages people to go out and use them, why not!!

59 minutes ago, Kowalski86 said:

I wouldn't know where to find Traxxas parts tbh! Not a brand I've ever had, or know anyone with one...

Can see that being an issue, but around here the police etc seem cool, especially if you've a BRCA licence, as it gives you £10 million 3rd party insurance,.so we're probably more insured, than the BMXers using their track! 🤷‍♂️

Anyone that advertises or intentionally damage stuff is a hard pass for me. There are too many good ones to list but there are some standouts.

The great:

RC Retro: great content and watchability.

QuietRC: builds some not normally covered cars and I get the idea he is buying his own stuff, worth a look and the dude can paint.

Mateo: that dude sparked my interest in RC again after years dormant. I saw his Hotshot video with all the excellent suspension flexing slow mo's....made me hotter than a junky's spoon.

The bad:

RCKicks:....like Beetlejuice, I hate saying the name as I am afraid his content will show up in my feed. Not that the contents are bad but his personality is as uncomfortable as 80 grit underwear. He is insufferable, always whining and complaining about some fiddle faddle.

Talbot: I think he sets a bad example to break stuff just to see it break.
