So I have a hobbywing 1060 in my cougar classic, it was working fine up until yesterday. I somehow lost all power and is blinking red. I’ve had this happen with a 1060 years ago and could not get it to recalibrate so I tossed it. I have tried to recalibrate or reset but i get no beeps on set up. Once in a while the throttle will work but cut out within a second. Does anyone know how to get it to calibrate it to factory settings or is it even possible?

Is your receiver and transmitter connection all good?  Can you try unplugging them and hooking them up to another ESC in another car?

The radio & receiver is all good. It is a futaba 3 prka. If I cant get this figured out this will be the 3rd 1060 over the yrs that I had to toss that basically has the same issue. I wanted to keep this cougar brushed.

Without wishing to offend you, is it a genuine HW1060?  I seem to recall there are some fakes out there...

Not offended at all, i purchased from hobbywing usa on amazon. I just ordered another today. If this one fails im done.

Just had a thought, I had a 1060 dying on me because my RX is not waterproof and it actually killed the ESC that way. So did you run your gear in the wet? While the 1060 is waterproof, it is not immune to stray voltage going in via the signal cable.

No water, was driving on the street only.

I would try Twinfan's original suggestion of checking all connections. Sometimes there's a tiny break in the wire going from ESC to Rx, and therefore no signal between them. So check for breaks in the wire, pinch points, and possibly even the plug itself (the little pins inside sometimes work loose and cause weird issues).

Is it a standard red 1060?  They are junk, have had quite a few bad ones.  Try to find the THW-1060 (the ones that come in Tamiya kits these days) from a kit breaker on Ebay.  I've actually been using them in on road racing with 15t Reedy motors and they've been great.  Unless HW has updated their version I would stay away, go with the 1080 if that's the case.

I wonder if Tamiya forced them to make improvements to the kit versions?  They have been a lot more reliable than the genuine HW with the red heat sink.
