Hi All, hope you won't mind a Kyosho rig over here but this is my forum of choice and I like you all, so we'll see if there are many Kyosho fans around (Optima Mid certainly does well enough ;).

https://www.bigsquidrc.com/kyosho-1-10-toyota-tacoma-trd-pro-readyset/

New platform from Kyosho which I hadn't quite noticed last year because of the atrocious body on the 'mad wagon' (IMO) and the naming (thought it was just a small iteration on the mad van). Turns out this is a pretty new concept - 10th scale flat chassis, with a giant vertical brace down the middle, and a center diff. Might be an interesting new addition to the scene.

Curious to hear your thoughts. I think this new truck looks great and ought to be a fun driver.

Very cool!

I bought and outlaw rampage for my son, which is pretty awesome, but would have preferred it to be 4WD. This looks like it would be the ticket!

I've been eyeing the Dirtmaster on and off, just to have a more sturdy "old school" dirt buggy to drive about. Something akin to an old RC10 but with parts availability.

This release makes me think of the Traxxas Raptor "Ultra Scale Edition", but I like the execution here much better.

You get an aluminum chassis,  Deans battery plugs (like the Fazer line up), a velcro battery strap (why Traxxas won't use velcro is beyond me), but more importantly the wheel wells look big enough to avoid body rubbing.

I've seen an "Ultra Scale Raptor" up close, there is a good bit of tire rub on near full compression, and unlike an MB-01 I can't simply swap another body onto it (oh and it costs significantly more).

My only gripe with both of these trucks, are the clip less body systems/non standard dimensions that limit what aftermarket body shells will fit.

Can you explain more about what you have in mind?

Yeah. Well, it looks like this chassis may be too long but, it still could be the foundation for a new Lazer 4wd buggy. Maybe add a carbon fiber top deck, some long arms, big bore aluminum shocks, a buggy body and buggy tires. I'm sure I'm way over simplifying but why not? No one makes one-off products. It's all about making a chassis and see how many iterations you can come up with during a marketing meeting.

I wasn't sure how I felt about this when I read the headline.  1:10 and 3S?  Sounds like Kyosho are going all Arrma on us, I thought...

But, actually, I like the execution.  The body looks great and has a nice scale appearance.  Depending on whose version of 1:10 it is, I don't really know why' it's 3S - if it's a similar scale to Tamiya's touring cars then that's overkill, a truck like that will flip over all the time.  But if it's more inline with bigger 1:10 offerings, maybe it will have just enough stability to handle the power.

The chassis plan is neat.  The aluminium deck, centre diff and spine is very similar to my 1:6 rallycross car, which is incredibly robust.  And it looks like you get chunky sliding driveshafts and adjustable links out of the box.  My guess this is this will be a good, solid, fun basher.

But I'm guessing there will be more to this chassis.  Throw on some wider arms and, yes, you have a new buggy platform - but, throw on some chunky wheels and a stupid generic pickup body with an urban camouflage paintscheme and it's squarely in Arrma territory.

It's an interesting chassis design for sure, but since I'm not interested in either RTR models or Toyota Tacomas, I'll pass.

But it does make me wonder if this will fit some of the old Landmax bodies. If those are standard short-course tires, it's probably big enough. Offer it as a "pro" kit with aluminum shocks and some other goodies, and a rally car body (mmmm, Stratos) and that might get my attention.

I think it looks good!  Not sure why we need a truck looking like that going 70km/h, but that still sounds like fun.

Only because one of the 2 question that is asked when a passer by sees you running an RC, how fast does it go? This way you have the number memorised.

 That sounds like the questions I frequently get on my Supra.   3.5sec and 11’s.

This is a heavy vehicle - almost 8 lbs (which I'd generally consider 8th scale). With that weight, 3s might actually feel mild, or at least manageable.

I have tekno race buggies that weigh the same running on 6s. eThis is long and narrow though, so I agree it will be a handful and I'm not going to want to 'bash' that nice scale body. If I get this, I'll keep the power mild.

The other question being "Can I drive it"?

70kmh is only useful for the folks in countries that use metric speeds... "43.49mph" doesn't quite roll off the tongue for us Yanks ;)

Not much.  Tuning and Eventuri intake.  Everything else is basically stock.  The car is quite under spec'ed from the factory aden's very eager to go fast.

I kinda dig that chassis, and I really like the body set. The bad it’s another RTR.

Sort of off topic, but 3S and lower kV is great for a basher. Gobs of horsepower and long, long runtimes. Most of my crawlers are on 3S, some with low kV. 3800 kV and 3S geared slow always has plenty of reserve power!

That is the question i get most of the time. Especially kids are like “mine goes 35mph. How about yours?” My answer is “i have no idea”

This looks to be an alternative layout of the Mad Wagon(KB10W) from the KB01L chassis model so that should give a good indication of how it runs and holds up.

If my USA-1 is any real comparison of brushless Kyosho then it’ll be full of power and a riot to drive

The KB10L comes stock with a center diff which is a nice additional feature. Probably more useful with the longer wheelbase.

The only downside of these trucks in my view is the weight - more than 8lbs (3.7kg). I think that might not include battery so these trucks weigh more than my 8th scale race truggies. I am not even sure how they pack so much weight onto the chassis. Just having 8th scale diffs wouldn't do it...
