New wheels /tires setup for vintage buggies?! (From shizuoka hobby show)

Recommended Posts

Was just browsing instagram and saw the post from tamiya jp.

Bunch new cars.. but hornet and frog caught my eye thinking why are those displayed?

And realized their tires are different. Rally block and rock block tires ?!

The wheels on the Frog and Hornet are most likely these 1.9" mounted with Tamiya rally Block tires on the front.

Not sure what rear tires are mounted at the rear, though.

I just saw another photo and rear wheel is indeed new touring car wheels..

The rear tyres may be the BB01/BBX ones in that case as they are fitted on standard 26mm touring car wheels

Kind of make sense since most (some?  just me?)  folks drive their off-roaders in front of their house where they drive on the street and sidewalks too.

JC are doing 2.2" vintage look wheels with Modelsport, for modern rubber (these fox ones, plus hotshot / egress), so maybe doing some weldstar look for the hornet/frog?

The range of 2.2" -

JC racing are a British company , so I don't think so (but you never know 🤷‍♂️).

Looking like they are the tamiya option part 'touring car' wheels , as above.
