When the BH version was released there were a bunch of people that wanted the regular rere, so that's good.

But xmas 2024.. that's a long way to go for some folks.. I bet by that time the demographics will change as well..  I wonder what percentage of people that came back to RC during the pandemic is slowly going back to their normal lives away from RC...

Nice. :)

I've got a new built original (that will now plummet in value ) but it was built from spare parts trees, rather than a kit, so I will probably buy this re-release just for the unique silver box lid  B)

Xmas 2024? Where does it say that?

More like January I reckon. Usually the way when they announce a re-re late in the year. They add the following year to the name to allow for the few months to get it in stores.

I said Xmas 2024 being facetious, sort of. The boomerang took a year from pre-order to show up at Tower. HS2 BH took 6-8 months?  January seems very ambitious and I'd be shocked.

Well I’m just going off previous re-releases arriving here in the UK. Kits like the Sand Scorcher and Avante were announced in October and were in UK stores by the end of January. Tamiya’s supply line does seem to have deteriorated in efficiency since then, to be fair.

You're probably accurate if buying through Tower for sure.  :D

Is this the right place to ask what the difference is between the HS2 and Boomerang?

Its certainly easy to get lost in some of the Tamiya family trees. In this instance Hotshot, Supershot, Boomerang, Hotshot 2, SuperHotshot and then the blockhead variant.

From what I can see, aside from the looks/colour scheme, the enclosed chassis (HSII) verses the open chassis (Boomerang) and possibly minor suspension differences.  The gearboxes are the same as are the number of provided bearings.

Aside from the more rigid, but harder to access Hotshot boxed chassis vs the Boomer's tub, the HS2 has the bumpsteer laden direct steering rods like the HS and SHS vs the Boomerang's sliding bar system. That's probably the biggest performance difference.

I spotted this while doomscrolling and procrastinating about getting out of bed this morning.  I personally won't buy one (unless it's one of those crazy impulse buys) but I'm glad it's there and the re-res don't seem to be drying up just yet.

If its a kit I want, I order from overseas. RCmart, Tamico, and Rcjaz......always get kits before the U.S. Prices are usually excellent too.

I did that a while back for kits I wanted, but the air freight is still pretty ridiculous for RCmart to the USA for me.  And when I added more items to offset the freight, the total value of the shipment increased and got stuck in customs at least 4 times where it required calling FedEx and talking to an associate to submit some form through e-Sign.  FedEx said US customs is cracking down on inbound Chinese shipments with value over $700 or something..  so, the hassle is not worth it anymore to me..

The WC JJ Ultima, Worlds MID were ordered through a US vendor.   Sure everyone in the world but me already has the JJ Ultima.. but it's okay.    Not like I'm doing some YT channel show or anything like that.

Nono, I don't have one..  What I was trying to say is I have no reason to rush into a new kit (well, besides me wanting to do it for my own personal reasons) because I have no audience that are so eager to see my stuff.

I really have no picture taking skills (I was telling my younger kid who bought my DSLR that the thing is broken because every picture I take, no matter how hard I tried, turned out to be a lame used car ad photo  haha) and video is like a foreign language to me..  I am hoping the iPhone15 Pro will give me some level of quality video for doing short reels on Instagram.  I get frequent requests to post reels of my cars in motion.. I am not there yet.    I need Apple to fix that overheating issue reported on the iPhone15 first.. its on my to-do list for 2024.

Thanks, maybe one day..  I'm just not a video worth guy, you know..

So HS2.. who is getting one?    Me, probably not.     I'm a fan of the HS and already have a rere, so..

I'll get it for sure, unless an attractive deal pops up on a vintage one. I think I crossed the line of sanity a while ago, so what's one more kit . . . or seven

Plus, I have extra love for all kits in 1986 and 1987, so I can't skip this opportunity.

I wonder if we'll get the silver box again too?

There's really no reason why they shouldn't. They have cut corners with other re-releases like missing Sand Blaster Jr tyres on the Buggy Champ and skinny fenders on the Sand Scorcher but that was probably cost cutting due to licencing and mould issues. This is simply using a different colour ink on a box lid. You can never be sure with Tamiya but I'd be pretty surprised if they do a white lid rather than silver.

With this announcement and the soon to come Super Sabre, does that complete the ‘shot series as far as re-release?

Yup. Only thing they haven't done (and still might based on the Saint Dragon release) would be Winger shell on one of the rereleased chassis, probably the Boomerang
