And I have an old Nikko Black Cat which I’d like to take apart and fit with modern electrics.

I welcome advice on this, btw. The car is currently in my parents’ loft and I don’t remember much about it at all - does it take a stick pack etc?

I do recall it has a trigger/wheel Tx and has two driveshafts for 4WD; one for each side of the car between the left/right rear and front.

I doubt under the body, it has “standard” electrics.

If it's the 1/16th Black Cat, it uses (8) AA batteries, layered as (3) and then (5) on top.

I haven’t seen it in ages, but it rings a bell that it’s bigger than 1/16th.

Yes. Most likely going to see how a Monster Racer shell works (TBG repro I guess). It's a little too narrow at 165mm, when I really want nearer 200mm for true 1:12 scale. They also reckon the wheelbase is 250mm which is a little short, but a challenge to stretch a M06 to (I've seen 257mm done). Width increase might be possible with crawler wheel arch extenders.

It would be easier to stretch the MF01X, but the other project is 190mm wheelbase which I don't even want to attempt trying with the M06 and it's trivial on the MF01X.

I will swap all the hubs over between the MF01X and M06 so the latter can get the increased ground clearance. It will also get 85/90mm crawler tyres on whatever big offset 1.9 wheels I can find (touring, drift or crawler).

Lol - I'm totally following in @Nikko85's footsteps. Whilst trying to find a "not ridiculously priced" body shell, I ended up finding the Traxxas Slash 1/16. One search later and who should google find that has been that way... Nice work on your QD version Nikko85! I'm most likely going to head that way, possibly with aftermarket Prerunner decals. If I can find a sensible Monster Racer/Prerunner/Desert Fielder shell, I'll give you a shout.

Are you asking about Tamiya specifically, or my R/C Hobby Backlog in general?  i have 4 Tamiya kits sitting on the shelf...   but if you are asking in general...  well...  that will take several lifetimes to get through.

Just an update where I am as of today...  making progress. :D

October.. completed everything except decided to postpone painting the street SandScorcher body until next summer.  I just could not decide on a color and priority is low so..

November..

Finished building the JJ WC Ultima, but I kind of messed up on the body (most people won't even notice, but I know it's not 100% right) so I am redo-ing it later in the month.

XM1S is arriving very soon so will start on that and place a Beetle #3 m-chassis body on it. :D

Rest of month will be making accessories and stuff for photo shoots.

December..

If the mint green MID arrives I will work on that, but if not, I think I'm going to paint another white MID body from my parts stock as I want to run one of them outdoors next year.   Next year my outdoor bashers will be mostly the Scorpion, Beetle, XV01 Delta, MID, and Egress.

Scary…. That’s how it looks. For bodies I have 50-60 collected often out of print / rare / obscure inroad 1:10 and m scale. Few restoration projects 3-4. New kits usually get bought and built immediately.

I thought I'd added my to-do-list to this but I must have imagined it.

I've got 2 bodies on the work bench that I'm doing for a fellow TC member, so they are first priority.

I've then got a Rough Rider body to repair and paint for a mate.

After those are done I have, in no particular order:

  • Revive-RC body needs trimming, painting and stickers adding for my AstuDF
  • Midnight Pumpkin needs some mods doing and painting for a (hopefully) cool little project
  • Lunchbox body needs painting for my fully independent suspension CW-01 chassis project
  • Ford Ranger body needs paint finishing and stickers fitting for another cool little project
  • Vintage Ford Ranger body needs repainting for SRB chassis
  • Celica Rally body needs stickers finishing, interior painting and body fitting to TA-02 chassis
  • Body needs painting and stickers applied, interior painting and body fitted to TB-Evoiii chassis. Also have new rear diff to fit.
  • Body to paint for TGM-02 chassis (might send this one out to AttackRC)
  • Wild Willy needs a couple of light repairs and want to repaint in original box art instead of current alt box art camo
  • Sand Scorcher body needs restoring and painting (yay - I love doing those)
  • Recently bought back my custom FAV, already bought a bunch of upgrades for that, so plenty of work there, including a repaint
  • D12 - loads of ideas - so little time.....
  • Century Hawk Bell222 needs full restoration

I probably need to get on ebay and starting looking for another project.....

I don't have a hug backlog, but a long over due list of to do's:

  • Sort out the gearbox on my girlfriends Wild One
  • Paint and Assemble the body set for my Mountaineer (~9 Years overdue)
  • Fit electronics to said Mountaineer (~18 years overdue )
  • Finish component designs for I-Beam Ford Ranger project (Though this will probably move to the bottom of the list after seeing Proline's release yesterday)

Two un-planned for additional projects incoming from Japan soon, 1x 580016 Sand Scorcher (will get a runner restoration) and 1x 58002 935 (for a clean up).

And finally, some of the remnants of my old collection need to be culled to make way for the incoming ones.
