I will measure everything and check when diff will be ready. Why do you think that I nees to use JJ8?

Without JJ8 I would have thought the spur (and JJ11) could slide along the shaft towards the motor. I might be wrong though, I'd need to check.

Ah, I have not thought about this.

A picture of Tamiya 54234 installed can be seen on @Nicadraus's XV-01 here.

I seen this before but still it is hard to find both sides photos of this part.

You can look at manuals of where this part is used (there are three kits), it will show you how it looks like on both sides B)

Good idea!

I checked FF-03.

Kit part looks exactly the same as aluminium/ XV-01 part and there is nothing like JJ11... Hm...

What is more or less stock ride height of XV-01?

Mine isn't stock any more but from my build thread I think stock height is about 11mm.

Any recommendation of diffs oil for start? I am pretty sure, that 900 from kit is way too thin. I want pretty neutral handling with some oversteer.

The FF-03R, FF-03 EVO and FF-04 EVO use the aluminum spur gear mount. I have an FF-03R and FF-04 EVO, maybe tonight I can compare it to the TT-02 spur gear mount.

It would be great!

I just checked. TT-02 spur gear holder won’t work. Inner diameter is too big, and the slot for the pin is open so there is no way to keep it in place on the FF-03, 04 and XV-01 unless you use JJ8

Tamiyaclub really is an excellent community. Thanks for checking and the photos. As @skom25 said, photos of both sides were previously very hard to find.

1 x 53585 3mm Shim Set

Where you used them?

I thought about shimming suspension but probably it will not be necessary. They are expensive, so I do not want to buy them without reason :D

I have that 4 mm set already. 5 mm too.

@skom25, I looked at the manual and now I remember, used the 3mm shims to shim out the belt tensioner. In my case the bearings needed to move a little outwards.

Used the 4mm shims to shim out the NN4 parts but you already knew that.

My guess is that is a compromise Tamiya made to provide only one bottle of oil both the shocks and the diffs in the kit. Shocks would be happier with 400 and diffs would be happier with 3000. So I would start at 3000 and go from there.

I think so. If you are shopping for oils anyway, I'd also get something stiffer. I suspect you might end up with 3-5k in the back and 10-20k in the front.

If I remember correctly, I did use the kit 900 stuff in the front shocks at least!

I had a plan to use something like 3k or 5k on front and 1k on rear. It is only guess, because I do not have any experience.

I have many different oils for shocks, so no issue here.

Does it make sense to buy only that long aluminium suspension mounts for front and rear?

Separated, smaller ones are not available. Long are available and are quite cheap.

Thank you. I checked probably all builds on Forum and Youtube :D

I was just curious, if one part will change anything.

BTW: Have anyone of you tried Carbon Reinforced Parts from sprue K? There are steering parts, engine mount etc. Looks like quite nice set to upgrade.

I haven't but they're recommended here:

and do sound like a good idea. If I was ordering from PJ/RCJaz I'd add them to my basket.

However, the same post recommends the reinforced J/JJ parts as well which, if they're good, sound like a nice solution to the suspension mounts issue. If you can get them (I can't see stock but I've got the aluminium ones anyway so they're not for me).

By the way, Yeah Racing also do aluminium suspension mounts - they're also cheaper than Tamiya.
