An almost stock Candy Green GH, @KEV THE REV

Was a NIB I started a few months ago, really enjoying the build.

I unexpectedly had today off work, my plan was to start cleaning up the XV, however my wife cancelled all her gym classes so we could spend the day together - it’s been lovely to be fair, although I’ve just had the last hour Tamiya fiddle faffing -

The XV was irritating me today, so I put it away -

Reverse kicked in very occasionally or mostly not all, unless I almost maxed out the throttle trim 🤦‍♂️

I assume you can use one of the settings in the handset?

This is why I avoid running Off Road. Few minutes of fun and hour on cleaning.

This is true, I think the work around is too run 2-3 packs through at a time.

Otherwise it’s a lot of maintenance relative to the time spent driving.

I think it depends a bit on your standards. My XV survived well enough when I had it in rally guise and I tended to run it under a tap, dry it somewhere warm and spray it with GT85. It's a lazy regime and obviously not as good as proper cleaning but it has been sufficient that I haven't had anything like seized bearings in two years, which I consider an adequate result. I apply this kind of regime only to this and our DT-03s which I regard as dirty runners, figuring that I concentrate nearly all the wear to these models. The XV doesn't seem to have suffered from it too much. I've not really worn anything out. Although more recently I have treated it better, as it's currently an on road runner.

This is where I’m at, a basic clean to get the grot out, wipe it over and then go again.

I’ll want to get these runners dirty and then dirty again and again, I’ll leave my OCD’s for the vintage shelf queens 🥳

Well, reverse it back and I can move on to the irritation of sorting the Blitzer steering next 🤦‍♂️

Have you crashed it?

I know that pain. It happened the same to my freshly built DT-02.

A few knocks and bangs, I suspect the guy I bought the shell from used the wrong paint type though.

Maybe, but I am not sure about this. It can be also related to poor body preparation before painting. Similar thing happened with my body, but after few hard crashed and it was visible only in few minor sports, without flaking off.

Sorry to see that. It was really nice body.

It’s been a while 😭, but anyway I’ve enjoyed the little drive time I’ve had with this XV and now I’ve finally got the shocks as per the XV-01 LD version.

Yeah Racing carbon shock towers, CVA’s 50519 (Mini shocks II) and 53974 TRF01X springs.

The shock items to the left are the parts I had been using to get me up and running.

Liking the new shock set up on this a lot now, also just moved this one over to LiPo with guidance from @Busdriver👍

Just need to solder up some plugs really and we are good to go 💯

A pair of these arrived yesterday -

Apart changing the ESC plug, and some other small jobs, this R/C is officially completed and being enjoyed 😊

Body posts trimmed, ESC swapped for one with a deans plug and crossmembers fitted.

Officially LiPo only now for this car, my 1st committed move over from NiMH.

For me the Tamiya TT motor and 2s feels like the right set up.

I had the ESC, 2 LiPo 2S batteries and a suitable charger already, so no additional spending needed which is great -

I’m going to put some foam in the battery tray and call this one done 🎉
