XV-01 Very Slow Build

Recommended Posts

Your swing shafts are right at the end of the outdrives, is this only because you removed the shocks?

I can't wait to see your Nicadrus-grade electronics 🍿

Correct. Arms without shocks are much lower than normally.

More or less on level as it will be with shocks:

Also I just recently started to play with anti roll bars; at the front they drastically reduce steering, which is as per the setup theory but still surprised me. For me the front roll bars are useful in very high grip situations when the rear tends to come loose - something I only encounter with foam tires when they just swept the basketball courts (then it grips like sand paper). I still have to experiment with much softer springs in conjunction with these front roll bar before giving up on them for my regular rubber tires/dusty track conditions. Anyways, let us know how yours drive.

Thank you!

I totally do not know what to expect. I run it with medium springs on front and soft on rear. Body roll was HUGE, so I think sway bars will help.

I am also not sure about springs. Maybe I will buy Rally Set and make car even softer?

This will be my first time with sway bars. I had them in DT-03, but I have feeling that they just looked cool and did not do too much.

I have changed my approach over the years but these days I like to use the softest springs I can get away with. It just seems like the car grips and corners better. The rally spring set will not help you though, since your XV-01 black springs are already softer than the red springs you would get in the rally set. I think your XV is going to drive phenomenal as it is. If you ever feel like it needs more steering you can always swap what you have to black front / gold rear.

I can also use black/ black, because I have two sets of XV-01 springs :P

For me, soft springs make on-road cars look more realistic and they help absorb imperfect roads much better. They definitely help transfer weight too, which helps traction.

Unless if your XV-01 starts traction rolling I'd keep the springs as they are, maybe just bump up the shock oil or play with adjustments.

When I had my XV01 I tried running stiffer rally springs and TRF shocks, and I ended up not liking it as much as soft springs and plastic CVAs all around. It felt less "rally" and more "clumsy family sedan".

Hehe that's worth a try 🙂 These things are a lot of fun to experiment with!
