Sogogi 3362 Posted November 18, 2023 I thought front motor means motor in front of front axle… like ff01, xv01 etc. interesting that for rear drive, we call it MR / RR etc. Anyhow, it would be fun to change the configuration.

That pro version looking one looks cool…

It really can be configured as front motor, rear wheel drive That has the drive coming out the other side of the spur box to the MB-01! I wonder if the bits can be combined into 4wd.... Also, they added a raised battery mount to run the shaft under it. can the motor be run in the center 'high/drift' spot, and put a heatsink/fan on it that looks like a motor? Time will tell. I feel like it may be possible since some people already built 4wd mb-01…

It is very likely possible, but I I'm not sure what the benefit would be over buying a TT chassis from the getgo. This guy has a few videos on an MB01 AWD conversion, including a running video.

markbt73 6003 Posted November 21, 2023 OK, Tamiya, if you're listening, here's what I want: This chassis, with parts for all 3 drivetrain layouts included, along with full bearings, CVA shocks, a silver-can motor, and a 1060 ESC... but NO body, wheels, or tires. Sell it for $150 or less street price, and I'll buy at least 2 right off the bat.

I'm sure that there will be a "pro" version that'll fit that criteria. 1 hour ago, toyolien said: I'd also want reinforced plastics instead of ABS. Same here, "good" plastic and machine screws, so we can try all of the various setups without stripping screw threads.
Alexei 761 Posted November 29, 2023 ordered one at the local hobby shop yesterday. it is rather cheap actually. very curious to see how it is. they said according to the supplier it would released during next month, but i doubt it would be out that fast.

Just realized its msrp is almost same as grasshopper… tempting! (Especially fwd mode)

(Especially fwd mode) It's looking rather expensive here in the UK, around 20-25% more than a TT02 kit. It would make a lot more sense at Grasshopper money (sub-£90). But at a predicted £140-150 it's a bit of a strange pricing strategy.

The MSRP is $40 more than a basic TT02 kit, so I guess you're paying for a more "scale" experience? Or it'll have bearings?
Sogogi 3362 Posted November 29, 2023 Hmm so tower has it for 138.60 which is about $10 more than grasshopper and inline with basic tt-02 kits… Initially i wasn’t interested by the look of it…. But I became a fan of fwd cars.. so I may try to snag one for christmas. (currently have ff03/m05/ff01)
Alexei 761 Posted November 30, 2023 i was thinking it would start out at around 200€ since it is a new kit, but it is more like 148€ which isnt bad. you can find TT-02 kits that costs more, or less, depending the body. the Supra body with the BT-01 is just what i want, so thats great. but i have no idea about bearings, i sort of expect it plastic bushings, because you know, Tamiya. hamtaro 102 Posted November 30, 2023 It's got the good old tamiya friction "dampers". And what pairs perfectly with those dampers...good old tamiya bushings. The best of both worlds
