What full size car is in your driveway/Garage?

Recommended Posts

A 2018 Jaguar XF Sportbrake here. Its just the 2l turbo petrol which is the base engine but plenty for me as the performance is fine (184kw) and I value fuel economy. Only had it a month, been looking all year for a Sportbrake and finally found one last month. Jaguar didn't send them here, so they're all used imports and really rare. Its my second XF, the first was the 1st gen and unfortunately got written off by a truck, I'd probably still have it otherwise. A Mitsubishi Triton in between. Pickups/Utes are so popular but I don't understand why as a daily driver - a car is soooo much better! Loving the new XF

The other (half) car is a 1995 Toyota Levin which a friend and I bought to run in Lemons 24hr endurance races. Its a Toyota, so just goes and goes. Its pretty standard - oil cooler and roll cage/seats/harness of course, and just got new suspension which is a Yellowspeed competition (as opposed to road orientated) coilover setup. The most fun you can have with your clothes on!

Oh, we also have a Nissan Leaf, cos you know, commuting and stuff. Its pretty fun though as it drives like a go kart (when I'm in it by myself...)

I should have added, @ThunderDragonCy a 306GTi6! Always wanted one of those. I'll get a 'classic/toy' which will most likely be a GC8 WRX (even though 993Turbo or CE9A Evo 3 is top of the list, but price v fun doesn't stack up) but there are a few pugs on the list - 205GTi, 206GTi-180 and 306GTi6. Just sitting quietly with my XF and racecar for the right time to broach adding another...can't complain really!

Well, some of you got some really nice cars. I cannot offer something fancy here:

Just a Volkswagen Caddy from 2019. A marriage of convenience.

caddy.thumb.jpg.5f7c2565bfea84cb6131d76132546115.jpg

I would love to have another kind of car, but rationality makes me stay with that type of solution. No space where I could leave a fun-car. I wouldn't know what to choose either. And I already heave some bikes & scooters.

Glory days! In the late eighties, we had some fun with our Daihatsu F20 Wildcat (or Taft or Toyota Blizzard, as they are known elsewhere). I really miss that car:

The two-wheelers:

My actual motocycle, Honda Pacific Coast (yes I like weird Japanese design) with my spouse pretending she is driving.

PC800.thumb.jpg.568da6e7ad1e49c307ec0ea3aadb2f4b.jpg

Another weird thing: Honda CN250 Helix (or Fusion) with sidecar.

Which actually undergoes a complete restoration:

Even though I "lost" my 4x4 in the past, I still own my first motorcycle bought in 1986. A 1980 Yamaha XT500:

Cheers

I have a 1937 MG TA which does a good job of stopping me spending too much money on RC toys.

I think there's another thread like this somewhere on TC?   Anyway, I've had my 87 Grand National since high school and I'll probably be buried in it :)   Other Buicks are an 03 Park Ave Ultra and 08 Lacrosse Super with the 5.3L LS4.  Jags are an 03 XJR with the R1 package and possibly the best car I've ever owned, my 2006 XJ8L.  Absolutely lovely highway cruiser and with the long wheelbase plenty of room for my RC stuff when I take long trips to races.

My current daily is an E90 BMW 328i. Bought it as an inexpensive car and it’s become one of my favorite cars. I’ve refreshed the suspension and I’ve done some light mods to it. I plan on doing some track days next season with it.

It’s a 1945 Piper J3C-65 Cub. Have been tempted to sell on occasion and buy a Porsche haha.

I agree, on a twisty country road a sporty car is so much better, but for a daily driver I prefer to drive my utes now. It’s just so much easier to get in and out of compared to a low car, and easier to drive and park, I don’t have to worry about scuffing up the bumper on ramps and driveways. I do have a 2013 Toyota 86 that I’ve had since new, installed a supercharger on it myself, brought to numerous track days and drift events, such a fun car and with the UEL header, the boxer rumble sounds awesome

You have more vehicles than people!

Isn't that normal?🫣

(I've 6 in my name, 3 are in the one in the garage, and 2 are mostly hung on the wall though..😁

Got a track day around Silverstone in one, for my 21st loved it, promised myself one, but somehow ended up with the Turbo diesel sport version 🤷‍♂️

(Still got a good condition front bumper in my folks loft, as you do, not sure if they're worth anything these days?)

Absolutely awesome car!

Think it was my last analogue (?) car, (no electronic trickery, abs etc to start grabbing the car, while you're having fun..)

Only issue , was I couldn't go 2 days without getting pulled over (slightly my fault tbh..), then having to goto the police station with all my documents. It was after I got pulled over, and they started to strip the thing looking to check it wasn't stolen, illegal parts etc, I started to look for something else. I don't think it lasted a month, before the guy I sold it to, rolled it across a field 😔 (one thing with these, if you're giving it a bit of welly, DO NOT LIFT!!! If you do need to slow a bit mid corner, use the left foot on the brake, as you won't get from the brake, back to the throttle in time, to catch it)

Live in central London so no need for a car. Have owned cool stuff in the past though, including a restored MG Midget and a sleeper Eunos Roadster which I imported from Japan.

To be honest, this hobby’s tinkering stops me from doing something silly like having an old 911 money pit sat on the driveway! 😂

Had one BiTD and loved it. Lift off oversteer was amazing! Just, couldn't  afford it as a student, everything cost so much. Now it would be fine but back then I remember brakes costing 3x what a Corolla cost. Not huge, but $100 vs $35 is big as a student

Woo boy, this is an interesting one for me.

I own a '07 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor.

"Well, so what?" I hear all the American members here ask. "That's a common car."

Yeah, look at my location. I own one of 38 Crown Vics in the entirety of The Netherlands. xD

(and yes, that is the Vic on the Nurburgring. It's slow. Vid here:

Interestingly, most of my kilometers are actually on my bike. I commute on it, do the grocery run on it, and last year, took it on a 1500+km ride through the beautiful German Eifel.

That's awesome man!  Thanks for sharing the video.  I've probably seen 5 of those today already, but I can imagine its a rare site where you're from.  Very cool, they're good cars.

Thanks! Large American sedans are sort of my soft spot. When I was shopping for the Vic, I was chasing a '95 (I think?) LT1 Caprice as well, but that car, while awesome, was too much of an 'old' car to survive as a daily.

I'm very happy with the Vic. I've found a group of Vic owners who use their cars in charity runs and such, and even though mine has no emergency equipment whatsoever, I occasionally join them and we have a blast.

@nel33 1984 AE86 Corolla Levin. In Europe they were only sold as a Levin front end ( fixed headlamps ) the car had a late model AE111 engine and alot of effort time and money spent by all its owners including me 😂😁. Blast to drive… another era for cars and weight and sheet metal thickness..
