Really like the Tamiya Lancia 4wd rally car

Recommended Posts

Thinking of building something different. That kit caught my attention but would like to know if there are different wheel options. Its the TA02S chassis.  I come across wheels for the Porsche kit, same chassis. Would those fit the Lancia?

Strictly speaking, the Porsche is the TA-02SW chassis, but yes.

It's only the rear wheels that makes it a "W" :)

The 31mm rear wheels might be to wide for the Lancia body, but you can always go for the 26mm front wheels also in the rear.

You can remove the chrome and paint the wheels a less blingy colour if that helps.

But if the problem is the wheels are too big and the sidewalls too small, then unfortunately I have no solution for that.

How did you got the body to sit low? Did you just lower the shock settings?

I shortened the wheelbase by about 1.5mm by removing material from the leading edge of the inboard end of the lower rear arms. The upper arms needed spacing out to match.

I rotated the mounts for the rear body-posts by 90 degrees to allow the body to sit a bit lower.

Then fitted the body to lower holes on the body-posts.

I also had to shave a few mm from the top edge of the rear bumper.

Fitting shocks with threaded cylinders allowed for some fine adjustment.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that this kit uses a hard plastic shell.

You are not wrong.
